Most licensed games that stem from movies have a history of well, being garbage, or at the very least having very few redeeming qualities. A lot of people attribute this to rushed development cycles to tie in with the film's release. There are high hopes for this though considering Raven Software, the team behind Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is at the helm, along with Amaze Entertainment, who have some debatable successes. A while back, I posted about a Gears of War 2 patch coming later this month. Now it turns out that coming along with the patch are seven new achievements. No official release date has been said, but should go live once the patch is released. All seven equal up to 175 points, mostly focused on the flashback and combustible maps. Luke Smith, the Bungie Weekly Updater, has revealed some of the new achievements that will be added to Halo 3 when Title Update 2 hits later this month. The achievements are related to the campaign, ranked/social play, and the Legendary map pack. In Gears of War 2 news, the people of Epic seem to really understand their audience. Epic loves us for exactly what we are, a bunch of achievement whores. Now while some people may be above spending time going through games solely to raise their gamer score, most of us are not. Epic has created a whole new type of achievement system, called "linked" achievements. Linked Achievements occur when someone obtains an achievement in the first game(Gears of War), this then unlocks new content in the second game(Gears of War 2). The beta for Warhammer Online is beginning to look a little grim; with major content cutbacks that will affect the release I'm sure. This month Warhammer online took out FOUR major cities and FOUR classes... that is BIG. Warhammer Online is the upcoming major competitor for the reigning champion of MMO's, World of Warcraft and with a cut back this big it is either a really really good thing or a really really bad thing. With Age of Conan slowly (but trust me it's not at all yet) falling off a bit, Warhammer Online really needs to step it up and take advantage. The content cuts may be a good thing; maybe the developers realized they need to focus their manpower on a smaller amount of content, but at the same time that could be a bad sign... Read More...
