Review: Killzone 3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of March 2011 - 11:11 PM ]
Here we go again. It's time to try and end this conflict between the I.S.A. and the Helghast once and for all. Picking up right after the events of Killzone 2, we are thrust right back into the mix of it in Killzone 3. All to meet the end of saving Earth from the new tech and tactics of the Helghast who are still hell-bent on doing just that. Outside of being a continuation, Killzone 3 is also one of the titles that Sony seems to be relying on to show off their tech and hardware capabilities. So outside of pleasing fans of the franchise, Guerrilla Games and Sony have a lot on their plate as far as expectations. Read More…

Duke Nukem Delayed Again: Much Shorter This Time
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 24th of March 2011 - 09:51 PM ]
Duke Nukem Forever being delayed again is like a nerd with a pocket protector - you know the joke, everyone knows the joke and the best you can muster is a half-hearted smile in one corner of your mouth in recognition the joke even existed. So, the fact 2K and Gearbox went with a more tongue-in-cheek approach to the announcement shows a true effort in good faith to the game and the franchise as a whole. June 14th is not that much longer to wait and I'm certain the extra time will be used wisely. Duke Nukem Forever will be released on XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Read More…

Time To See How Kratos Will Handle The Mortal Kombat Universe
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of March 2011 - 07:28 PM ]
PS3 Mortal Kombat fans have been teased too long with the fact that Kratos will be a console exclusive character. Teased with the knowledge, but nothing as far as substantial in-game footage. That is until now as there is a new trailer out showing some of his moves and animations. Color me impressed with this new view of the character. From the looks of trailer, it is fully upgraded Kratos from God of War III that is know fighting against mortals for the pleasure of Shao Kahn and himself. At least that would be the only reason I can see him fighting in the tournament as Kratos really doesn't seem to care what happens to his world. Read More…

X-Men: Destiny Is Going To Be Filled With Teenage Angst
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 22nd of March 2011 - 10:13 PM ]
If there already wasn't enough of this or conflict in the X-Universe, it looks like new comer Aimi Yoshida will be bringing her own to X-Men: Destiny. Aimi being the most recent character brought out for the game's character roster. A small Asian female who was "abandoned" by her parents. Granted it was so she was not rounded up with all the other mutants in Japan, but what teenage girl would not hold onto those issues to give her a reason to be bitter and angry? Funny thing is I'd be bitterer about the thing that was forcing the label on me, the mutant power. Her power, from what has been given so far, is that she specializes in efficient mutant power usage. Review: Knights Contract
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of March 2011 - 09:26 PM ]
It is time to travel back to the early Burning Times. A time when religious superstition and fears drove many good and innocent people to the gallows or to a public burning at the stake. A time depicted and twisted for Game Republic and Namco Bandai's most recent endeavor, Knights Contract. In Knights Contract you play Heinrich Hofmann, an experienced witch-executioner plagued by a curse of immortality, who charged with the task of protecting a witch by the name of Gretchen as she attempts to save the world. The world is being threatened by a mad scientist, named Dr. Faust, who is trying to gain the same curse Heinrich has, as well as rid the world of witches all together. Read More…

Prey 2 Live Action Trailer
by Corey Dockendorf [ Saturday, 19th of March 2011 - 07:57 PM ]
Bethesda Softworks announced this week Prey 2, and the teaser will make you think twice about putting your cell phone on airplane mode. Prey, which was released back in July of 2006, was originally developed by Human Head Studios. Prey followed the sci-fi adventures of Cherokee Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi. The general story was that he, along with Girlfriend and Grandfather, were beamed up to an alien ship known only as The Sphere. The Sphere has this whole Galactacus complex, as it devours all materials, living or inanimate from our tiny blue planet. Read More…

Here Comes Episode 2 Of The Battlefield 3 Fault Line Series
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 17th of March 2011 - 11:29 PM ]
Man, if the title of these shorts for Battlefield 3 had not been set to Fault Line before the natural disaster in Japan I would say, "Way to piggy back off the suffering of others EA." But that is not the case as the previous "episode" came out two weeks ago. Way to dodge that huge insensitivity, am I right?1 Continuing on… Here we have a bit more of the game play for Battlefield 3 and this time the soldiers are dodging a sniper. This looks like an interesting addition to the normal run and gun here but I am curious on how this sniper can't get these guys. Read More…

The E.Nigmas Of Batman: Arkham City
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 17th of March 2011 - 06:38 PM ]
In Batman: Arkham Asylum the Riddler had kind of a small role, even though it was one of the larger side missions in the game. It makes sense when you think about the fact that he didn't physically show up at all in the game. This looks like something that Rocksteady is going to be changing when it comes to Arkham City. At least from the new screens shown below. It is also explained that there will be more than just item collecting missions set forth by the Riddler this time. Read More…

Get Your Art Shown Off At E3 2011
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 16th of March 2011 - 04:32 PM ]
Hey aspiring artist gamers, wouldn't that be amazing? To get you artwork shown off in one of the largest gaming conventions? Too good to be true is what I am sure you are thinking, but again you have your chance to get your art viewed. The submission period for this year's Into The Pixel exhibit is now open and will be open until April 15th. In case you are in the dark about this, Into The Pixel is an exploration and celebration of the art of video games from around the world that is put on by The Academy of Interactive Arts&Sciences (AIAS) and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). Every year that I have been to E3 they hold an exhibit and cocktail party to showcase the top pieces for all to see. Read More…

The Softer Side Of [Prototype 2]...Kind Of
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of March 2011 - 10:00 PM ]
I don't know what it is about trailers like the one below for [Prototype 2], but I find them fun even though they don't really show off much. I think it is the violent content set to easy listening music that I find just awesomely funny. That's a word isn't it? Awesomely. It is for my purposes now if you don't think it is. Continuing on, here is yet another tease for the game that is still slated for a 2012 release. It pretty much shows Sergeant James Heller toss a Blackwatch guard across the city and we get to watch the slow motion flight. Read More…

Gods The Secret World Is Looking Better And Better
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of March 2011 - 04:38 PM ]
I swear there is always such a HUGE lull of info or visuals for The Secret World each time there is something new. I guess at least when there are new details or even a teaser video it still manages to get me excited again for the upcoming MMO from Funcom. The below trailer that was shown at GDC is no exception to the rule here either. Here we have a developer's diary of sorts with a mix of game play. A lot of the information is really nothing new. PAX East Hands-On: The Darkness II
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 14th of March 2011 - 10:54 PM ]
After waiting two hours in line at the booth for The Darkness II my friend and I finally made it in to get our grimy little hands on the demo. We were the last batch of the day and the seven of us were ushered into the heavily guarded and boxed in booth. Inside it was dark with black lights and heavy, clear curtains dividing the actually play area from the main section. The creepy ambiance and The Darkness occasionally chiming in reminding us of its evil and demonic intentions set the mood for this sequel; Dark, Grim and Scary. Before we were able to play the actual game the Producer, Seth, gathered us around and told us that there are twelve screenshots out right now and if there happens to be a thirteenth one there is going to be hell to pay. PAX East Day 1
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 14th of March 2011 - 05:19 PM ]
By Matt Waitt The first day of PAX East started off on a bad foot with me forgetting the passes at my house. After trekking all the way back, my crew and I finally made it to PAX East. We took in all the sights, sounds and not too friendly smells and we headed on over to none other than the Mortal Kombat booth. After waiting for thirty minutes in line my friend Hovey, we got our eager hands on the new installment. We both decided to pick the new tag-team mode and have some fun. Read More…

Batman Catches The Armed Man In Arkham City, Also A Release Date
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of March 2011 - 07:37 PM ]
You know that bastard that gets blamed for everything. That damned one armed man. Well he is running around Arkham City and Batman has him in his sites. Who would have thought that he was actually one of the Joker's clown makeup wearing lieutenants, let alone actually exist? The target of our blame is finally being brought down; although I am sure he will respawn later. Pushing my piss-poor humor aside now, as I am sure a lot of you don't truly get it, there is a little more info to go along with the below screen shots. A release date and one interesting tidbit that was weaseled out by the European PS Blog guys. Read More…
