Aggrocast Episode Seventy Five: E3 2010 Wrap-Up
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 01:55 PM ]
Despite reports that the AggroCast team is dead, we are still alive and kicking...and playing games to boot. While we catch up on our lives during this summer, you too can catch up with some previously unreleased episodes of the AggroCast. Start with Episode 75, the one where David, Binh and Brian wrap up E3 2010. The team spent their last day at E3 scrambling around looking and playing anything they could get their grubby little hands on. This list includes some of the latest games from Bethesda and Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIV. Read More...

Deus Ex Let's You Revolt By Shanking People
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 9th of August 2010 - 05:16 PM ]
Let's face it, everyone likes to hand out a good old shanking to someone's face every now and then.* What better way to do that than a really cool "electrified" blade from behind? Am I right? Of course I am right. All proving-myself-right aside, it looks like that is just one of the really cool looking ways you will get to take down enemies in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. At least that is what I am gathering from these new screen shots handed out by Square Enix and Eidos for the game. If stabbing people isn't your bag, don't fret, there are a few other things you can observe. Read More...

The Sights Of Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
We got a release date for the game and a view of what the PC box will look like, but what about an update on what the game looks like. We haven't had a good one of those since around the time of E3. Am I right? Of course I am. Well let's take a look at some of the new creatures to kill and environments to come to us this September 30th. Having had actual hands-on with the beta of the game, I can assure you that what you see below is what the in-game will look like; if you have a system that can handle it. Some of the creatures look a bit new, but I will say I am a fan that they went back to the original look of the Bombs. Read More...

E3 2010 Hands-On: Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 03:04 PM ]
Now here is a title that I was overly excited to get to look at, and that is all I planned on happening this year at E3. Little did I know we would actually get to play hands on this up-and-coming bad-ass "sequel" in the Final Fantasy franchise. Hands-on with two of the major components for an MMO to boot: the character creation and a bit of the combat system. Let me break them down into two sections for you, with pictures. At least screen shots since pictures were not taken too kindly in the sectioned off tent in the Square Enix booth. Read More...

Kane To Lynch - 'She'd Better Be Worth It'
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of June 2010 - 08:18 PM ]
Looks like just before E3, like many other games, we are all going to get a good look at what is going on with the story of Kane and Lynch 2. Well maybe not so much a good look, but at least some of the reasons these two mad men are going through the crap storm they are. This time around, surprise, it is for a piece of tail. This should be a lesson to all you ladies out there. Men will go through pretty much Tartarus for you or to keep you safe. Read More...

Obsidian Entertainment Developing Next Dungeon Siege
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of June 2010 - 02:54 PM ]
It's been a while since I was truly excited about a game announcement, but this one is pretty exciting! Dungeon Siege 3 has been announced for NOT ONLY PC, but XBox 360 and PS3 as well. According to the press release, Dungeon Siege 3 will have Square Enix (Final Fantasy) on board as Editor, and Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights Of The Old Republic) as the Developer, with Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege 1/2, Supreme Commander 1/2) supervising the whole process. So let's recap. Probably one of the best dungeon crawlers is being re-done in HD format across multiple platforms by some very powerful companies in the gaming industry. Read More...

Get A Glimpse Of 2027 From Deus Ex
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of June 2010 - 11:02 PM ]
Want a glimpse into the future? Or at least a thought of how the future might be in the next 17 years? Then do we have something awesome for you. A look at how the world might look in 2027 from Eidos Montreal and Square Enix in the form of the new trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. You know the title that has been getting the "secret" type treatment to build up to this. Now just like other concepts of the near future this is one that I can see working and hopefully not to far off. I mean, Demolision Man was way off and 1984 came and went. Read More...

Kane & Lynch Bring Childhood Games Back
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 28th of May 2010 - 03:24 PM ]
Remember when you were younger, more innocent and you use to play Cops and Robbers with all of your neighbors and school friends? Those were good times. Running around pointing fingers like fake guns, or using NERF™ guns. Swapping sides when caught stealing whatever little toy you had placed out there. Gods those were good times. Then we all grew up. The Beauty Of Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 01:51 PM ]
Now I was not a big fan of Final Fantasy XI. Maybe it was the grind. Maybe it was the lack of people that I like to play with. Maybe it was the lower end graphics for the game. At least lower end to my high standards. Yes I am a graphics prima donna now. I have been spoiled by the "next gen" consoles and higher end PC graphics for too long. Well at least now due to online socializing and the below new screen captures of Final Fantasy XIV, it looks like two of the above three issues I had will be taken care of. At least if these are in game shots, most likely, and not pre-rendered from an intro clip or cut scene type clips. Read More...

Bruce Willis Is All Over Kane An Lynch
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of May 2010 - 07:06 PM ]
Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this latest multiplayer mode for Kane and Lynch 2 look extremely close to the story of Die Hard With A Vengeance? Take a team down a section of a subway tunnel and through a hole you've made to steal money from a bank. Sounds pretty damn close, if you take out all the other mind games from the film. Looks like Bruce Willis is getting a small homage in the game for playing the balding Kane in the film version of the franchise. Or I could just be looking into this a bit more than is needed. 10 Things You Ought To Know: Final Fantasy XIII
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 11th of May 2010 - 06:18 PM ]
It has been two months since the release of Final Fantasy XIII on the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360. Some – including myself – were among the many people who began playing on release day, just clamoring for the return to the Final Fantasy series. Meanwhile, others lost interest in the game or are saving the experience in order to play titles that were released around the same time (read: God Of War III). I’ve compiled a list of things to remember about the game as you ready yourself for a 60+ hour dive into this mammoth role playing game. The voice acting is not movie quality. Read More...

Kane And Lynch Take A Look At Arcade Modes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 5th of May 2010 - 10:39 PM ]
So have you been curious on how the multiplayer aspect of Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is going to look? Or have you been curious on how it will actually be implemented through story or any other way? Well ponder not so much any more. We have a new look at the multiplayer for Kane and Lynch 2. One of which is a very fun descriptive, and audio non-safe for work, clip describing what is going on. While I am not a big fan of multiplayer in games, in fact I think it can ruin a game in some cases, the multiplayer for Kane and Lynch looks like an interesting twist. I mean, your allies and team mates can turn on you at any moment if I heard and saw that right in the clip here. Read More...

Nier Is Teaching Us To Fear Books
by Andy [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 05:26 PM ]
After watching the launch trailer for Nier, seen below, I will say that if this was all I knew of the game, I could see it as a story of Bibliophobia. That is the fear of books to the layperson. Why would this be now? Well the entire trailer shows how books have somehow gained enough power to destroy the world and attack young children. It says it right in the trailer too. "Forbidden Pages Lead Him Onto A Path Of Destruction. Read More...

Take A Glimpse Into Final Fantasy XIV
by Kevin [ Thursday, 17th of December 2009 - 03:27 PM ]
Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited.
