Alan Wake Developer 'Disappointed' By The Media
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 19th of April 2010 - 09:15 PM ]
The managing director of Remedy Games, Matias Myllyrine has reportedly tweeted today that he is disappointed that gameplay footage of Alan Wake has been leaked. To quote, "Game journalism is not about playing a game in ten minute segments and posting random quality videos on the net. Disappointed." Okay here is why he's full of it and also why Alan Wake will suck. You may or may not have read yesterday my feelings about the necessity of a delicate balance between business and art in games. The reality is that video games are a product. Read More…

Could We Be MMOing It In Rapture Soon?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 19th of April 2010 - 03:22 PM ]
This is still just a rumor and based of sources from Destructoid. I'm not one to post a bunch of rumors. I hate when they are good ones and then they end up being false or a joke started to get views. I really hate it. But this is a rumor that I think most of the fans of 2K Games would go ballistic over if it was made to be a joke or for publicity. It's also one that I am sure that any fan of BioShock would love to be true. If you could not deduce by now, the rumor is BioShock: The MMO. Read More…

Brian G's First Ever Ramblings
by Brian Goodman [ Sunday, 18th of April 2010 - 03:03 PM ]
So first off I'm Brian and new to Aggrogamer.com (and also Pwned.com My user name is GooseyB please friend me so I'm not too lonely!). Aside from video game blogging I also play in this band. You may or may not have noticed my first few articles posted this week. I am a video game news junkie and very opinionated. I may like studying the industry and culture surrounding video games almost as much as I like settling in with a new nerdy PC strategy title and a bottle of whiskey (almost). I do enjoy a lot of mainstream titles and also spend plenty of time on my XBox 360. Read More…

Name An A.I. After Yourself In Fat Princess
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 17th of April 2010 - 12:55 AM ]
Ever wonder what it would be like to have your own character in a video game? Well wonder no more as Atomic Operations has announced a Fat Princess Biggest Fan Contest. They are looking for the King or Queen of Fat Princess. Someone who has ruled the rankings, has directed some of the weirdest winnings and who also loves cake more than the Princess herself. If you have all of those qualities than you could be the next A.I. Read More…

Now We Get A bit On The Naughty Bear Story
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 09:28 PM ]
Finally 505 Games has stopped with the ripping off of the book "How To Be More Like Hades" and have given us what we have been waiting for. At least a little bit. That's right, here is some game footage as well as another or the Nightmare videos that 505 Games first started using to show off Naughty Bear. It took them long enough and only one small threat of copyright infringement from me. I joke. Read More…

Iron Man 2: Beneath The Armor
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 07:18 PM ]
Here we go with another film based game due out here soon. A few weeks from now soon at that. Not to mention one of the larger titles coming out this year for true uber geeks. Suck it sparklers. In any instance, I was able to join up on a conference call with Dean Martinetti, the game’s producer, and Mike McHale, the game's Development Director. Where we got to throw out our questions about the game as well as try to gauge on why we or anyone should pick up another film based game. Especially since the last one in this franchise was such a piss-poor adaptation. Read More…

Infinity Ward Keeps Melting Down
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 05:17 PM ]
You can not follow game industry news and not have noticed the countless reports of the drama currently going on between publishing giant Activision and successful Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward. Even legitimate news sources have covered the huge lawsuit frenzy that has been going on. Today, industry analysts have suggested that as many as 20 more Infinity Ward Employees are projected to no longer be employed by the company in a month's time (source Gamespot). Even though strong sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack DLC suggest a short term financial positive for Activision, the stock has continued to go down. I may not be a business tycoon or an expert economist, but I do know this Activision. Read More…

Naughty Bear Makes Bear Cakes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 03:10 PM ]
Wow, 505 Games is really trying to throw out these Naughty Bear clips like there is no tomorrow. Like they are truly trying to rewrite the book of "How To Be More Like Hades™" hard core. First with the rip off of Rule #324 and now with Rule #56, Always eat or trick others into eating the corpse left behind victims. It's the perfect crime. Don't believe me. Read More…

Gamestation Legally Aquires Customers\\\' Souls
by Brian Goodman [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 11:02 PM ]
According to Bit-Tech.net, UK retailer Gamestation decided to play a prank on its unknowing customers. For those of us who do not read the terms and conditions agreements of online transactions (all of us), they inserted an "Immortal Soul" clause (which is exactly what you would think). Long story short, 88% percent of customers did not click the opt out option of said clause and willingly surrendered their ethereal essence to the British retail giant. The 12% who did notice the opt out feature received a small discount for doing their due diligence. Before I go on, seriously; who reads that stuff? Read More…

Kick, Push, And Coast: Skate 3 Demo Drops
by Kevin [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 08:59 PM ]
The current king of skateboarding titles, the SKATE™ series, is dropping the demo of its third iteration today. The demo has a bunch of single and multiplayer modes to try out before the games drops on May 11th. I have been a fan of the franchise since the first of the series and really had not had much fun with skateboarding titles before this since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater II. Some of the new features for the title, as proclaimed by the official site, include: Everyone Can SKATE. - New skate fans can learn the ins and outs of skateboarding with Coach Frank in the all new skate. Nier Is Teaching Us To Fear Books
by Andy [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 05:26 PM ]
After watching the launch trailer for Nier, seen below, I will say that if this was all I knew of the game, I could see it as a story of Bibliophobia. That is the fear of books to the layperson. Why would this be now? Well the entire trailer shows how books have somehow gained enough power to destroy the world and attack young children. It says it right in the trailer too. "Forbidden Pages Lead Him Onto A Path Of Destruction. Read More…

Review: Mega Man 10
by 345 [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 03:08 PM ]
Mega Man 10 (available on XBLA, WiiWare, and PSN for 800 MS Pts/1000 Wii Pts/$10, respectively) is an incredibly fun and enjoyable entry in the classic Mega Man series. A follow-up to 2008's Mega Man 9 in more ways than just a new number, this game takes a lot of the feedback and criticism the latter had to craft one of the best sidescrolling experiences in years. While there isn't a whole lot Capcom and Inti Creates actually changed in the bigger scheme of things, Mega Man 10 features a lot of new tweaks and balance adjustments that make it far less threatening than its predecessor and more entertaining in the long run. While there are some tough areas in the game, overall I wouldn't call it difficult at all, and perhaps it is one of the most fair games in the series. Read More…

Naughty Bear's Book Of Naughty: Rule 135
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 10:29 PM ]
I don't know about you, but I am starting to get a little tired of these Naughty Bear videos that 505 keeps pumping out. Not that I don't enjoy them. Not that I don't find humor in them. It's just that I want to know what this game is all about and see some actual gameplay or purpose. To me it is like they are trying some kind of viral marketing plan that really was not well planned out. I mean, if I didn't know better, these videos would make me think that there is a new show coming to Adult Swim and not a video game. Maybe it is just me. Read More…

Nice Going Ass Kick... Er Kick Ass
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 08:26 PM ]
As is not to be surprised, as it was announced a while ago, the film Kick Ass has a game coming out. Coming out as in tomorrow (4/15) to meet the launch date of the film which is Friday (4/16). Yet another in the string of movie based video games coming out this year. Well that come out pretty much every year there is a big budget film to milk for money. Still waiting on Spaceballs: The Videogame Mr. Brooks. Read More…

SEGA Embraces DRM For Alpha Protocol
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 05:37 PM ]
SEGA, according to Eurogamer, has reported its intent to make use of the Uniloc DRM for its PC release of Alpha Protocol, despite past issues regarding the software. SEGA will be joining the growing group of publishers who have begun using intrusive authentication software in the name of protecting their PC releases. Since the inception of PC gaming publishers have been trying to find effective ways to balance protection against theft and unobtrusive gameplay experiences. How many people remember the funny picture wheel with older Lucas Arts games, or the frequently used “what’s the 4th word on the 9th line of page 36 of the manual” chestnut? Read More…
