Reported Layoffs, Jaffe To Leave Twisted Metal Team
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 7th of February 2012 - 07:05 PM ]
Eat Sleep Play - the company behind the latest Twisted Metal title - has recently reported laying off eight of its employees. David Jaffe (co-owner of ESP, and creator of God of War/Twisted Metal franchises) has also announced that he will be leaving Eat Sleep Play and opening a new studio in the San Diego area. It's kind of a big deal considering the latest installment of Twisted Metal launches next week. Eat Sleep Play will now transition into the Mobile/iOS Gaming market. Read More...

New Twisted Metal Trailers
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 20th of December 2011 - 05:35 PM ]
A couple new trailers for Eat Sleep Play's Twisted Metal have been released, one featuring my favorite character, Mr. Grimm and the other featuring Dollface. The trailers showcase a little bit of each characters back story, a hefty dose of heavy metal and some sweet, sweet game play. I grew up playing the original Twisted Metal games, so seeing one of my favorite childhood franchises come back guns blazing in a hail of fire and bullets makes me crack a smile across my face, ear to ear. The first trailer is Mr. Grimm, who is a different person from the last installment (Twisted Metal: Black) but is just as cool, showing us some of his signature weapons like the "Flame Saw" which is an exploding chainsaw that has been grinding on the concrete for a few hundred feet. A Little Twsited Metal Before PAX Prime
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of August 2011 - 03:45 PM ]
I like to think that there is no one sadder that myself about the Twisted Metal delay. I'm sure there might be, but I don't want to make assumptions here. No need to make and Ass out of U and Ptions. Am I right or am I right? Of course I am. Moving on now. Well we might not be getting the game in October and there won't be a "beta" for the multiplayer, at least as David Jaffe has stated. What we will be getting is a new playable map at PAX Prime. For those of us who are not going to PAX Prime and don't want to wait for news and videos to leak out, below we have a few new screen shots for your digestion. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 08:56 PM ]
So it has been a year since the new Twisted Metal was announced at E3 during the Sony press conference. It seems like it would be a good time to check in and see what the designers over at Eat Sleep Play have been doing since then. Yes there have been some fun new trailers and game play footage, but that doesn't give one a good feeling of how the game would handle. For that you need to place hands to controller. It was extremely fitting that the first location to get my godly hands on the game was in the arcade set up immediately after the Sony conference. Read More...

We Got A Look At Axel From Twisted Metal...Kind Of
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of April 2011 - 08:38 PM ]
Not only do we have a few shots of the Axel-like vehicle from Twisted Metal, but we also have a couple of game play clips of the multiplayer for the game. One kind of looks like the semi overtake races from Split/Second with a TM twist and the other a full arena style combat with a God Of War twist. At least that twist with all the spike traps and huge swinging spiked balls aimed to destroy your vehicle. I will say that what I've seen so far did have me flashing back to my early PS1 days with Twisted Metal though. Read More...

Want More Of The Twisted Metal Trailer? Well Here You Go
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of April 2011 - 10:59 PM ]
If you were like me and found the new Twisted Metal trailer a little short and lacking, then here is the director's cut for our digestion. You know the version that I am sure that David Jaffe would have wanted us to see from the get go. But now, like before, I want even more. There is more game play and more on each of the three playable characters. Finally we get to see Sweet Tooth and Mr. Grimm as family men and the twisted perceptions of Baby Doll. Read More...

Finally A Twisted Metal Release Date
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of April 2011 - 05:42 PM ]
It only took a little under a year, but we now have a release date and a pretty awesome trailer for Twisted Metal. All I have to say right off the bat; WELL WORTH THE WAIT. At least worth the wait for the trailer as we still have to wait until October 4th for the game. But at least we get to have the fun media frenzy to look forward to and most likely a few demos at conventions and on the PSN. The trailer doesn't show all too much of the game but a few scenes from the live action films and slight game play but at least we have been promised some more info here this week. What this could be is anyone's guess, but I'm sure it will be only the start of the forth coming avalanche of info and visuals. Read More...

Comic Con Impressions: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of August 2010 - 06:36 PM ]
Ever since it was announced at E3 that there would finally be a Twisted Metal making its debut on the PS3, I have been waiting ever so patiently for a really good showing of what the people over at Eat Sleep Play have accomplished - outside of the demo they had and modes announced. Perhaps reveal some story, game play modes or other characters. All those were all strongly touched on by David Jaffe at this year's Comic Con. This included showing a few behind-the-scenes views of the "cut scenes" they will be using for Twisted Metal. Read More...

Games to Watch: Way of the Samurai 3
by Kevin [ Friday, 7th of August 2009 - 07:57 PM ]
The original Way of the Samurai title was released on the Playstation 2 back in 2002. It was set in 19th Century Japan, where you would take on the role of a ronin who wanders into a remote village and becomes involved in a conflict between rival clans. One of the best features about this game was the branching storylines that offered some very solid replay value while at the same time offering enough in the way of varying weapons and side content to really constitute different gameplay experiences. Although the story in the first game follows one overall framing narrative, the actual events that the you would engage in really depend on the decisions you make. Some decisions, while seeming small, could affect who lived and died at the end of the story. Read More...

UPdate On Ex-1UP & EGM Staff And New Projects
by Michael Camacho [ Thursday, 22nd of January 2009 - 05:02 PM ]
After the layoffs at 1UP.com and EGM a couple weeks ago, many wondered what the future would hold for the 40 some employees now without jobs. Fortunately for many of them, they banded together to start various new projects. As one of their fans, I've had the chance to witness and experience these new projects, and here is the basic rundown. Rebel FM&Eat-sleep-game.com: Former staffers Anthony Gallegos, Nick Suttner, Phillip Kollar, and others bring you the first project. Read More...
