This Week In Video Games 3/14/16 — 3/18/16
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of March 2016 - 11:00 PM ]
Video Games A Lot Has Gone On This Week. Here's A Recap Of What We Covered In Video Games This has been one crazy week for video games hasn't it? We had a whole load of new rumors fly out there and some huge announcements. Could we be getting Red Dead Redemption 2 and a BioShock Collection or is that just wishful thinking? How about the price announcement for the PlayStation VR that came out and then was followed up by a bundle that still greatly undercuts the competition in terms of price. Hells, we also had a nice review for the first episode of Hitman land out there for you. Read More...

The Climb Takes Us To New Heights & Dark Locations
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of March 2016 - 05:00 PM ]
The Climb A new trailer for The Climb has been released and it shows off some new caves and an alpine locale crafted just for The Climb With all the VR news out there due to GDC it looks like we get to add yet another bit in there in terms of The Climb. At least this time it is for some software that Crytek is working on and not some new hardware and pricing that will be debated for hours on end. What good is the hardware without titles like The Climb to help show things off and get players actually trying out things they may be a bit too timid to try in the first place? The Oculus hardware needs to be more than just experiences or it will fall flat after all. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 16th of March 2016 - 05:00 PM ]
PlayStation VR During a press event at GDC PlayStation VR was priced out and also now we have a release window for when PlayStation VR will be hitting our homes Update 2 Deatail on the PlayStation VR bundle confirmed Sony isn't kidding around here for the PlayStation VR as they confirmed that the bundle will be $499 USD and up for pre-order on March 22nd. It will include: PS VR headset PS VR cables Stereo Headphones PlayStation VR Demo Disc PlayStation Camera 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers PlayStation VR Worlds (disc) Update Sony Confirms Bundle For North America Looks like there was a lot of outcry about the PlayStation VR set not coming with a camera or Move controllers. While the camera is required to use the system the controllers are not but many developers are building titles with the idea that consumers will have them. Read More...

New Multiplayer VR Game Werewolves Within Has Been Outed
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of March 2016 - 09:00 PM ]
Werewolves Within A new VR game, Werewolves Within, has been announced and pits players against each other to see who truly has a Werewolves Within… The mainstream VR hardware is still a bit off from release and it looks like we have yet another odd game to add to the list as Werewolves Within has just been announced. While the title does sound a bit goofy it does look like Red Storm is trying to make something truly unique out of the gate for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR. Werewolves Within wouldn't be a true Ubisoft game if it wasn't trying to capitalize on every available platform that it can right out the gate after all. Read More...

Another ADR1FT Gameplay Video Shows Off How Serene Space Is
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 19th of February 2016 - 10:00 PM ]
ADR1FT A new ADR1FT video has been released just after the release day announcement and it is more accolades for ADR1FT than any true showing Earlier in the month it was confirmed that ADR1FT would be getting its PC release on March 28th and the console version would be soon after. Three One Zero has been working hard on making the game the best VR experience to have and it has impressed quite a bit. That's why I find it odd that it took so long after the initial announcement for 505 Games to give us the trailer talking about said praise for ADR1FT as well as extra the release date. I guess again, beggars can't be choosers here and we should just be thankful. Read More...

See How The Climb Is Aimed To Be More Realistic Than We Thought
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 5th of February 2016 - 06:00 PM ]
The Climb A new developer diary for The Climb has been released and it shows off some of the ways that the developer is trying to make The Climb the most realistic climbing sim to date A few months back we first caught wind of The Climb as it began its development cycle. This would be the new rock climbing simulator that Crytek is working on to give us all a nice new experience to have with the Oculus Rift. For the most part The Climb sounds just like the title makes the game sound. You are setting out on various "climbs" in the VR setting using your own abilities to spot handholds and click buttons to grab onto ledges. Read More...

CES 2016 Hands On — Oculus Rift & Oculus Touch
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of January 2016 - 06:00 PM ]
Oculus While at CES 2016 I was able to play with the Oculus Rift & Oculus Touch in a more intimate setting than just a video. Here's my take on the Oculus Rift & Oculus Touch Obviously one of the big items around CES 2016 was the Oculus Rift; especially since it went up for pre-order and all of the new details cropped up just at the beginning of the show. That of course led to a whole lot of debate on if the Oculus Rift was going to be worth the $600 price tag out the door or if it was going to be another overpriced gizmo with a lot of buyer's remorse. This led me to take over the job of checking out the hardware of the Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch controllers to see if the price point made sense for where the system is now or if, like I said, it was something that could be left behind. CES 2016 Hands On — Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 8th of January 2016 - 06:00 PM ]
Rush Of Blood While At CES I Was Able To See Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood In A More Intimate Setting Than Just The Trailer. Here's My Take On Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood It was only announced a few months ago but Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood was one of the huge titles on display at CES 2016 in Sony's VR section of their booth. PlayStation didn't have a huge section this year but this Supermassive Games spin off from the main title was one of the bigger things for the PS4 and PlayStation VR here. Lines were up to an hour and a half long to play the ten minute demo of Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood and I braved it just for you so I could let you know how the game is shaping up for all of us. Pre-orders are now live over on their site and we now have a price and an expected release window for this year. That would be sometime around the end of March or early April depending on who you hear from. As of this writing mine is stating that it will ship in April of 2016 but I have seen others claim sometime in March. Read More...

The Climb A new VR game, The Climb, has been announced and it will bring the most realistic rock climbing experience for video games to date If you've always wanted to go extreme rock climbing without the risk then you'll be interested in hearing about The Climb. This would be a new VR title that Crytek is working on for the Oculus Rift that will place you right in the middle of doing what the title is all about: climbing. PlayStation The list of video games on hand at this year's PlayStation Experience have been unveiled with a few more saved for when the PlayStation Experience is in full swing There are only a few more weeks until the PlayStation Experience kicks off this year in San Francisco and some are still out on if they should make the trip to see what Sony and PlayStation have to offer us all. There of course will be developer panels and the standard keynote for all to look forward to, but what will be on the floor for us all to play and "experience?" That is what the PlayStation Experience is all about and with December 5th and 6th quickly coming up; gamers need to make their plans. Read More...

Until Dawn Gets A Rush Of Blood But Not In The Way You May Think
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 27th of October 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
Until Dawn During the press briefing at the Paris Games Week Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood was announced and bringing more Until Dawn to VR With the great success and reception for Until Dawn it is not that big of a shocker that gamers wanted more for the game. Hells, some even went as far as petitioning Supermassive Games to get some form of VR support in the game with the PlayStation VR. Wouldn't you know that at the Paris Games Week media briefing such a thing was announced in the way of Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood. A completely new experience looking to expand everything we loved about Until Dawn further on the PS4. Read More...

In The Void Of Adrift Only You Can Hear The Oxygen Leaving The Lungs
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 19th of October 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
Adrift New gameplay for Adrift has made its way online and it shows off a bit of gameplay and what it feels like in Adrift to run out of oxygen I believe this is the first time we have brought the first-person, interactive fiction game of Adrift up on the site before but that doesn't mean it hasn't been on our radar since it was first announced by Three One Zero. For those who don't know what Adrift is, outside of the genre description before, it is a story game that has us in space experiencing what it may be like for those who want to be up there. It is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC with VR support sometime next year thanks to 505 Games for publishing Adrift. Read More...
