Review: Singularity
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of July 2010 - 04:06 PM ]
So what would have happened in history if the U.S. wasn't a nuclear power during the cold war? Or for that matter, what if the USSR had some other form of power to lash out at the world? How would the world be changed? For the better or for the worse? Well this seems to be the main question brought up in Activision and Rave Studio's new game Singularity. You take control of U.S. Read More...

Review: Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 13th of July 2010 - 10:10 PM ]
Have you ever wanted to see what goes on in the sick-and-twisted world of teddy bears? All in the hopes to understand what they think and how they interact with each other? Ever consider the fact that they may be a bit more heinous then they let on? You know, in terms of mistreating and mocking the less fortunate or oddly misshapen or deformed bears - much like the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Well wonder no more as Naughty Bear has come out and will give you an in-depth look into the world of the teddy bear. This is no "kiddy" game mind you as it plays out a bit like Manhunt with the cute and cuddly. Read More...

Blizzard Suspending Use Of Real Names In Their Forums
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 12th of July 2010 - 04:21 PM ]
A heated debate has been going on in the Blizzard community lately over a new concept called Real ID. Blizzard understandably annoyed with the sheer volume of trolling and flaming going on in their forums, originally decided to require real names with forum posts. After a community uproar, they have resolved to postpone the use of real names. I clearly am proof of using your real name online will not prevent someone from spewing vitriol and being an internet troll (just read any post I've written about Nintendo). Instead of enacting an instant update Blizzard will still be phasing in its use of the RealID system, just not until Starcraft II and subsequently World of Warcraft: Cataclysm crawl out of our dreams and into our local game retailer's shelves. Guitar Hero Ready To Play Sets
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 9th of July 2010 - 10:50 PM ]
In the past with rhythm/music when it was time to inform the masses of the track lists usually we just got a long list of songs and artists for us all to gawk at. Sometimes Gods like me would go through the list and try to add a link to the song so you knew what it sounded like. Sometimes the titles don't really go with the part of the song we all know. It was a nice little thing I liked to give our readers. Well from the below video it looks like Activision is stealing a page from my book like Naughty Bear did. Read More...

The Sights Of Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
We got a release date for the game and a view of what the PC box will look like, but what about an update on what the game looks like. We haven't had a good one of those since around the time of E3. Am I right? Of course I am. Well let's take a look at some of the new creatures to kill and environments to come to us this September 30th. Having had actual hands-on with the beta of the game, I can assure you that what you see below is what the in-game will look like; if you have a system that can handle it. Some of the creatures look a bit new, but I will say I am a fan that they went back to the original look of the Bombs. Read More...

Review: Transformers: War for Cybertron
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 6th of July 2010 - 08:18 PM ]
When Activision first announced that High Moon Studios would be making a Transformers game, I was a bit skeptical. That is, until I saw the trailer and screen shots of the game. Granted it is not the Transformers we all, or at least most of us, know and love. And no, I do not mean the recent live-action Transformers movie. I am talking about the 80's cartoon series, including the full length movie where I first cried over the fact that Optimus Prime died in the epic battle with Megatron*. Unlike the most recent movie-based Transformers game, High Moon Studio took everything we love about Transformers and created a 3rd person shooter with a great story. Read More...

The Cataclysm Is Upon Us
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 6th of July 2010 - 04:47 PM ]
The Cataclysm is coming, and the Warcraft universe will change yet again. According to Blizzard's press release the Beta for World of Warcraft's Cataclysm expansion has begun and invites are being sent out to players who opted in on battle.net. If you got in, you should receive an e-mail notification, or login to your battle.net account and see if you have been selected. Cataclysm boasts two new classes, the Goblin and the Worgen, and will bring players back home to Azeroth where the world has literally been rocked by the biggest baddest dragon we've seen so far. Club Nintendo Rewards Announced
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 2nd of July 2010 - 08:31 PM ]
It's that time again where Nintendo rewards its faithful for liberally stuffing their corporate pockets full of money and doing free market research for them. Yesterday Nintendo released their Elite Rewards for 2010 in an email to Club Nintendo participants. Club Nintendo is a customer reward program. You purchase Nintendo products, register them on the Club Nintendo site and then you fill out a "brief" survey to earn coins that may be redeemed for prizes. If it was a grocery store chain, you'd have a little card with a barcode hanging off your key ring. Read More...

Do You Have What It Takes To Stop The Oil Spill?
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 2nd of July 2010 - 03:41 PM ]
Haven't heard enough about the BP oil spill yet? Think you could handle it better? Well break out your controller and give it a shot. A new title called Crisis in the Gulf is available on XBox Live, and lets you take command of the situation and figure out a way to plug the oil spill. Of course this game is based around a "DP" oil leak and not actually THE BP oil leak. That's just a silly coincidence, right? Super Boise Games developed the title in an attempt to make light of a very sensitive subject in current events. Read More...

Finally A Date For Final Fantasy XIV
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 1st of July 2010 - 03:56 PM ]
The fantasy is back and it is never final as Square-Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will have a global PC release date of September 30th. For those who will get the Collector's Edition, they will be able to access the game eight days prior to the Standard Edition. The prices for the Standard and Collector's Edition are $49.99 and $74.99, respectively, which is really not that bad for what they offer in the Collector's Edition. Read More...

I'm Getting A Call From Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 11:47 PM ]
With all the hulabaloo from E3, I almost lost sight of one of this year's titles that I have personally been excited for. That game being Naughty Bear. Yes I did get some hands on, but it looks like the little bugger tried slipping a few new clips and a trailer past me before I could take a look at them to ensure my rules have not been further plagiarized. Wait, three new videos? You cheeky monkey. Read More...

E3 2010 Impressions: Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 09:13 PM ]
As surprises come, a revitalization of Mortal Kombat was one thing I was not expecting until just before E3. You know when the crazy short popped up online followed by the new teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat. You know what I am talking about. If you didn't you would not have clicked on this article. With all that buzz just days before the event you would expect to have something to show at E3 for it, and boy did they. Nothing playable for anyone on the show floor, but those lucky enough to have a meeting or willing to stand in line for over an hour to get in to the 15 minute showing got a great glimpse of what is going on with the new Mortal Kombat game. E3 2010 Hands-On: Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 03:04 PM ]
Now here is a title that I was overly excited to get to look at, and that is all I planned on happening this year at E3. Little did I know we would actually get to play hands on this up-and-coming bad-ass "sequel" in the Final Fantasy franchise. Hands-on with two of the major components for an MMO to boot: the character creation and a bit of the combat system. Let me break them down into two sections for you, with pictures. At least screen shots since pictures were not taken too kindly in the sectioned off tent in the Square Enix booth. Read More...
