Enslaved Went West To Gamescom And Showed The Goods
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 08:56 PM ]
Up until now, I have been only mildly interested in Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. It has an okay concept, but the screens, clips and hands-on I have seen or had up until now have done nothing to overly impress me. Please notice how I said "up until now." If you look back, you'll see it in the sentence prior. We were given a really great look at where the game has progressed to so far and it feels and looks like a whole new game to me. I know it isn't literally, but like I said, what I saw before didn't "Wow" me. Read More...

Splatterhouse Goes All Retro Style... In A Good Way
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 05:48 PM ]
If I have not dropped enough hints yet, let it be explicitly known that I am not a big fan of the "retro" game look in modern times. I see it as a way for companies to milk gamers who don't have a better head on their shoulders so they can pretend to be gaming back when they first started. Gamers put money in the companies' pocket so they may play a game they've very likely played a billion times already. *cough* Golden Eye *cough* So when I heard that the most recent Splatterhouse trailer coming out of Gamescom showed off the retro look of the title, I was a bit pissed and extremely concerned. Thankfully, this lasted only for a few moments before watching the videos and new screen captures below. Read More...

Comic Con Day 1: Getting The Shaft
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of July 2010 - 08:21 PM ]
After the abysmal and short night for my "preview," came the first full day of Comic Con. The first day to try and find out the details on games companies were not yet ready to disclose to the public at E3. Or details that would gain better exposure at Comic Con. Like some of the announcements given around comic-based games like Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions and DC Universe Online. Makes sense that they would want to hold off for the comic fans. Armed with the knowledge of some of these announcements, I made off for their booths. Read More...

Street Fighter X Tekken, What More Do You Want?
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 27th of July 2010 - 08:40 PM ]
So what do you get when you take two completely different universes and mash them together into one game? No, I am not talking about Marvel vs. Capcom or Super Smash Bros. I am talking about probably one of the biggest mash up to date. At Comic-Con Capcom and Namco have come out to announce Street Fighter X Tekken. This new fighter will utilize the same technology that has been used for Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV where we will get to see Tekken characters like Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams will make the jump into the new universe being re-imagined using the art style of Street Fighter IV. Oh don't worry, they will still look and feel like Tekken characters we all love. Read More...

When Is Enslaved Sliding Into Stores?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 12th of July 2010 - 08:51 PM ]
Well that would be October 5th in North America. Yep, just weeks before Namco's Splatterhouse hits the shelves making them all bloody we will be getting Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. At least that is what Namco just told the world. How to celebrate this announcement? Oh, well how about some new screen shots for the game? I just happen to have a few here for you. From the looks of things, they like blowing up our main man here. Read More...

E3 2010 Hands-On: Splatterhouse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 22nd of June 2010 - 01:19 PM ]
Much like God Of War and Naughty Bear, if you have been following anything I have been writing about, Splatterhouse has been one of the other major titles I have been dying to hear more about. I want to see if it is going to be a good retelling of the original story from 1988 or at least worth a pick up if nostalgia isn't playing a factor in your personal debate to give Splatterhouse a chance. So how does this revitalization look? Well, let's say that there is a reason E3 is suppose to be an 18+ show. Read More...

Dreamcast Coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 16th of June 2010 - 05:56 PM ]
The Dreamcast is making a comeback and this time it's not in console form. Sega's last console attempt is getting ready to release two of it's popular titles: Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventures on the PlayStation Network and XBox Live Arcade this fall. The titles will get the usual treatment and advantages for being on PSN and XBLA, so expect Achievements/Trophies and much better HD visuals. Sega is planning on porting more titles in the coming months in conjunction with the 11th anniversary of Dreamcast's launch (has it been that long?). Read More...

Splatterhouse Hiding A Love Story In The Gore
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of June 2010 - 03:03 PM ]
I swear that there are going to be no new video footage for upcoming games at E3 this year. Yet another video released out to the public that is suppose to be an E3 exclusive. This time for Splatterhouse. Well let's see what new artsy look they went with for this trailer. Well shit the bed. Actual story and gameplay this time around. Both looking to be amazing and full of pretty eye candy. Read More...

Enslaved - Terminator Without The Time Travel
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of June 2010 - 01:30 PM ]
Here we go with another "E3 video" brought to the public a week early. I swear there will be nothing new for us media and industry types to look at on the floor. Everything is getting out like Sony's 2009 E3 big announcements. You remember that? In any instance, here is a new look at Enslaved from Namco and Ninja Theory. A nice video letting us know what is going on and why in 150 years from now society is running around a post-apocalyptic world. Let me give you the run down. Read More...

Knights Contract Trying To Out Gore Splatterhouse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 26th of May 2010 - 09:17 PM ]
While the announcement trailer for Knights Contract didn't do much to whet my whistle for the 2011 title, I will say that these screen shots just recently thrown out definitely do. I actually had no clue how blood and rage filled this game could potentially be. I mean, the trailer showed a bit, but these do so much more justice. Although visuals don't always make a game, they do add to the storytelling process of games. So we can only imagine how a skinned warrior and a huge, odd shaped looking monster fit in. Read More...

Splatterhouse Cranked To 11
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 26th of May 2010 - 07:12 PM ]
Maybe it is because Alpha Protocol got a music video rendition. Or maybe not. But Splatterhouse looks so frigging METAL that it needs it's own "music video" to promote it. Which is just what I have to submit to you below, if you approve or not. So crank it to 11 and watch the bloody awesomeness that is Splatterhouse. If you are not a metal head, still hit the mute button and watch the gameplay and visuals of the game. Great choice of music and shots of the game in my opinion. Read More...

Google Gets Pac-Mania
by Kevin [ Sunday, 23rd of May 2010 - 12:42 PM ]
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Pac-Man, Google has done one of the coolest things with their logo in recent memory, transforming it into a playable stage of the classic game. Though I hesitate to think that this will be a trend and will lead to more video game related logos for Google, it's good to see that when they decide to introduce something gaming related they actually make it interactive and not static. You can start the game by "inserting a coin" or by waiting ten seconds before the game starts automatically. Pac-Man has been one of the constants of gaming since 1980, and was introduced when the more popular games of the time were space shooters like Asteroids. Read More...

Cursed With Immortality And A Knights Contract
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 21st of May 2010 - 03:50 PM ]
Well isn't this interesting? Or at least look a bit interesting? A huge muscle bound guy with a scythe running around killing everything in sight. All while his partner, a witch, casts magic at everything in hopes to harm them and help Mr. Muscles. What is this gem called? Knights Contract if you haven't started watching the video by now. Now after you watch the video, think to yourself, "Is this an odd mass-up of every fast action game I have ever played?" You got God of War and Dante's Inferno mixed together for the big guy. Review: Dead to Rights: Retribution
by Kevin [ Monday, 3rd of May 2010 - 05:35 PM ]
Dead to Rights: Retribution is a third person action title following vice cop Jack Slate and his groin-ravaging, canine companion Shadow as they uncover the seedier threats that are rising against an already seedy Grant City. Essentially, it is a re-imagining of the franchise that began with very basic, but very fun run and gun gameplay with a hint of John Woo-style dramatics. The sequel to the original, Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay, moved the series from all the aforementioned positives into an area of monotony and outright brokenness. It took the ideas of the first game, which were actually pretty fresh amidst most of the titles out at the time, and did absolutely nothing with them. Read More...

The Clashing Of The Titans Is Still Going On
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 22nd of April 2010 - 07:17 PM ]
Well now that the film has come and still kind of around in theaters, some of these screen shots (below) for Namco's video game version of the game have begun to make a little more sense. Although there were still no frog people in the film, some of the updated and altered creatures and scenes fit in a little better. With that said, some of the in-game character models look a little bulkier then their film counter parts. The insane cult leader is a perfect example. Read More...
