TGS 08: XBOX 360 NXE to be released November 19
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 9th of October 2008 - 07:19 PM ]
So you're 360 is pretty cool right? Well it's about to a lot cooler on Nov 19 with the release of the highly anticipated NXE which is short for New XBOX Experience. If you live under a rock and haven't heard about it, it's a whole new dashboard replacement (just click the link and it'll take you to an example NXE) along with avatars, which Microsoft claims to have thought of before Nintendo's Mii's. Additional features include being able to load a game to a hard drive (you still need the disc in the drive to play but you can expect higher frame rates and quicker load times), the ability to win Microsoft Points by playing arcade style games, access to Netflix movies, and more. Be sure to check out all the other TGS 08 happenings! Read More...

Fable 2 Collector's Edition Stripped Near Bare
by Michael Camacho [ Wednesday, 1st of October 2008 - 09:24 PM ]
Looks like Lionhead Studios have dropped the ball once again.  As if possibly not having online co-op at release wasn't bad enough for those gamers waiting for Fable 2, those who preordered the Collector's Edition will be sorely disappointed in finding that it has been stripped nearly bare.  Gone are the Collector's Case, the Fate Cards, and no Hobble Figure.  Lionhead blames supply chain issues on this problem, and with only weeks left before the release, it causes on to wonder how this could have happened.  They have decided to drop the price to $69. Rock Band 2 Registration Now Available For the 20 Free Songs
by Michael Camacho [ Wednesday, 1st of October 2008 - 04:01 PM ]
The Rock Band 2 registration site is now up and running for those looking to get their 20 songs via download.  While the songs aren't available yet, you can register now, so Harmonix can e-mail you the download code when they become available in a few weeks.  Also while filling out the form, it has a comment box where you can suggest Bands & Songs you would like to see on Rock Band 2.  Unfortunately, no word on what will be included in this 20 song DLC as of yet.  I personally hope they throw in some J-Rock, but I know it's all wishful thinkin. [XBox 360 Review] Tales Of Vesperia
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 28th of September 2008 - 01:27 AM ]
The latest installment of the popular Japanese RPG Tales series, Tales of Vesperia, has arrived on the Xbox 360.  The world of Terca Lumireis is one of which that depends on ancient technology known as Blastia.  Blastia is utilized to perform various tasks from helping to boost combat skills, using magic, dealing with daily activities and work, or even protecting towns from monsters.  The protagonist in Vesperia is a young man named Yuri, whom deviates from the J-RPG stereotype. He isn't whiny or immature, but instead has his own sense of justice and takes matters into his hands, but is very caring even though he tends to not let it show. Read More...

The Bungie countdown has ended, and with it releases a new teaser trailer.  Set in a futuristic city, you are looking through a camera at various areas when pods drop from the sky.  When the cameras are brought back online, you see destruction and damage everywhere. Cut to "Halo 3" and after which the camera itself is hit by a pod, and the video cuts to "Prepare To Drop". According to Xbox Live Marketplace description, this appears to be a new Halo 3 Campaign Experience.  Look for more info as it is released. Read More...

Price Drop on the 360 for the UKers?
by Andy [ Saturday, 13th of September 2008 - 04:03 AM ]
So it seems that Microsoft/Woolworths has decided to drop the price for all of you UKers. This isn't 100% positive until the actual flyer comes out of course, but it would definitely make sense that they did, considering they dropped the price for the US and Japan. So now all of you who thought the xbox was too pricey may have to speak another tune. Hell, if you have an old version, you might as well upgrade to a nice elite. Read More...

Time to hang up the Madden cleats, stop the treasure hunting in Too Human, and find your save point in Tales Of Vesperia, as it's time to go back to once again answer your Call Of Duty.  Fourzerotwo, an Infinity Ward spokesman, says they're bringing back the double XP for the weekend of September 13th & September 14th for Xbox Live and Playstation Network.  So get those guns cleaned, locked, loaded and kick the safety off, as it's time to start climbing the ranks with ease and quickness. TF2 updates coming to 360 later this year.
by Sam [ Friday, 22nd of August 2008 - 03:38 PM ]
If you're like me and own a copy of The Orange Box for 360, you're probably upset that the PC version gets all the good updates. But alas, Valve is finally bringing all the updates delivered via Steam to the Xbox Live Marketplace. New class-specific Achievements, new unlockable weapons for the Pyro, Medic and Heavy, new gameplay modes and new maps. Doug Lombardi, Valve marketing director, said that he wanted to build up a massive update for 360 users before delivering. But like a lot of good things there's always a price to pay. Read More...

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad Hacking Sexily Onto 360
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 4th of August 2008 - 11:25 PM ]
As a fan of Japanese import titles, it's was a big surprise to find out one of my favorite budget title series was headed to the Xbox 360.  D3Publisher (Dark Sector) has announced Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad for the 360 without an official release date. You will take controls of the sexy sword swigning sisters Aya and Saki, as you take on zombie hordes in order to save the world.  The game title is not misleading in the least, as you will be in control of Aya who has basically a bikini, hat and boots on as she fights, while her sister Saki is in a Japanese schoolgirl uniform. There will be multiple game modes to let you immerse yourself in the experience of Onechanbara, to include Story, Free Play, Survival, Quest and more. Read More...

Guilty Gear 2: Overture
by Taylor Rose [ Wednesday, 23rd of July 2008 - 03:41 AM ]
Guilty Gear has always been one of my favorite series of fighter games because it greatly impairs our oh-so-beloved button mashers from pwning ass. Take Soul Calibur II for instance: when playing as Rafael, by repeatedly pushing one button, Rafael will rapidly flail his sabre, often leaving the other player no chance to retaliate. The control structure in Guilty Gear is so brilliant because rapidly pushing the punch or kick button won't get you very far: special combos are based mainly on the combination of buttons and quarter or half turns with the joystick or directional pad. It has so far proven to be a very difficult game to master - but isn't that what one looks for? Read More...

Microsoft Opening XBL For Users To Create Own Games
by Michael Camacho [ Tuesday, 22nd of July 2008 - 10:46 PM ]
Think you have what it takes to build your own game for Xbox Live, and can do better than what is out there now?  Well now you can, as Microsoft has announced that XNA Game Studio software will be made available to gamers who yearn to create their own video games.  Micorsoft already had a trial run of the XNA Creators Club games earlier this year which featured "Little Gamers", "Culture", "Jellycar", "The Dishwasher" and others.  MS has plans to introduce the XBox Live Community Games this holiday season to XBL Marketplace. Microsoft unveiled in their plan that you will be able to have your games added to the XBL Marketplace, for a price of 200 to 800 points, after passing a peer review, as well as take home a cut of the total revenue the game makes, which MS claims to be up to 70% in a form of a quarterly check.
