PAX East: Mafia 2 Impression
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 28th of March 2010 - 04:49 PM ]
Mafia originally came out on PC in 2002, then later on the orginial XBox, and then PlayStation 2 in 2004. Several years later 2K is releasing the second installment of the Mafia series with Mafia 2. Here at PAX East, we got the opportunity to sit down and play a demo of the game. Here is what I have to say about it. New Engine: 2K Czech has created the brand new Illusion engine for Mafia 2. I spoke to Dan, one of the lead Developers for Mafia 2, he told me that because of how the original Mafia was and how much the dev team wanted to in the first one but couldn't. Read More...

Review: BioShock 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 5th of March 2010 - 08:49 PM ]
The time has finally come for us all to head back into Rapture and see what has transpired since the fall of Andrew Ryan and get some questions answered. Is the city still standing up well? Have the splicers died off? What happened to those pesky ADAM filled Little Sisters? All kinds of questions that we were left to wonder when escaping from the underwater city in the first BioShock. The Story: Picking up almost ten years after Jack escaped from Rapture, BioShock 2 starts you out in a similar WTF moment forcing the start of the game. You just kind of wake up as a Big Daddy and have only clouded memories on what the hell is going on. Read More...

Big Daddy Got Wood!
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 26th of February 2010 - 10:34 PM ]
Ever been so obsessed with a game or character that you needed to draw them or have it everywhere? Myself, I have anime, Super Sentai stuff on my PC, PSP Go, toys (or in Mike's case, dolls), etc. Well this Japanese man takes things to a whole new level as he takes the time to carve out a nearly life size wooden statue of Big Daddy from BioShock. In this nearly ten minute video, you will see how much detail this Japanese Jason took to create Big Daddy. I could not imagine how long it probably took him to finish the project, but needless to say it is worth a watch. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of February 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
So on Friday (2/5/10) the people who are bringing us BioShock 2 and who helped in porting BioShock over to the PS3, held a nice round of "answer some submitted BioShock 2 questions." A nice game that I was able to sit in on and have some questions answered. For you, our readers, as well as for my personal needs. We all know I can be needy now and then. Here is my understanding of what the guys were trying to get across while answering all of our needy questions. Read More...

Get All Cuddly With Big Daddy
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of February 2010 - 02:47 PM ]
We've seen the BioShock 2 Launch Trailer or seen the ending that teased the sequel oh so long ago. In these trailers you may have spotted something that the Little Sister was carrying around. A nice little plush doll, made from random junk from Rapture, fashioned to look just like her Big Daddy savior. If you haven't seen it, then watch one of those videos and you will understand what I am talking about. Getting back on track, NECA has decided to add that plush doll from the game to their list of licensed BioShock 2 merchandise. Read More...

BioShock 2 Says We Will Be Reborn
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 3rd of February 2010 - 04:48 PM ]
It almost seems like it has been ages since the first BioShock came out and rocked the gaming world and Survival Horror and FPS genres. With deep intriguing story and creepy as fuck visuals and audio. All wrapping up into what seemed like a nice ending to it all. Well at least if you didn't see the continuation video that did more than just tease BioShock 2. Then after that, we had to wait almost two more years to get the sequel we fans were all hoping for. Which, here we sit a mere week away from that day. Read More...

BioShock 2 Shows Us How To Use The Scout Plasmid
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 27th of January 2010 - 10:32 PM ]
During your play through of BioShock, didn't you always wish there was a way to Scout out what was going on in the next room? Wouldn't have been nice to be able to do that and also set up or actually attack enemies in the next room so they were weaker before kicking down the door for the attack? I know I would have saved a few deaths if I was able to do that. Actually screaming out "I wish I could [insert what I said above]" when I died. Not really, but I can picture it in my head. CES 2010: BioShock 2 Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of January 2010 - 12:08 AM ]
At this year's CES in Las Vegas, NV there was loads to show off in terms of hardware. At least as gaming consoles and gaming computers go. But what about some of the software that was shown for all of us gamers? Like a real hands on with the multiplayer of BioShock 2. Not just spiffy videos. Well this was one of the games that was being showcased for all who attended and found there way out to the IGN and Sprint trucks hidden in front of the convention. Let me start off, as I usually do when it comes to multiplayer, not a big fan of it. In fact with this title, I was loathing the fact it was having multiplayer added as it generally ruins the single player game. Read More...

Hell Or Rapture?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of September 2009 - 04:48 PM ]
Damn you 2K and EA! Damn you both to Tartarus! Jokingly that is. But you both have made my February and thus Valentines Day/Desperation Day much more stressful than I was hoping for. Hopefully the little lady will understand why I am glued to my PS3 and PC. First Dante's Inferno and now BioShock 2 on 2/9/10. That's right. Just announced, BioShock 2 will be out simultaneously on all three platforms on the ninth day of February in our Lords 2010th year. Read More...

Have I Got A Story For You
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 04:26 PM ]
It is the job of trailers to get people excited about the product coming out. It's generally short version of the awesome that is in store for you when you get the full version. That or a small release of information that makes you look at the product and say, "Well shit the bed! That is awesome!" Something that they new Character Trailer for 2K Games and Gearbox Software's upcoming game Borderlands. I will admit that this game was a very small blip on my radar. I won't lie like those sites that review games with out playing them. Read More...

Announcing a BioShock 2 Pre-Order Bonus It was rumored all over the internet over the last week or so that everyone's "favorite" pre-order store, GameStop, was getting exclusive DLC for the multiplayer part of the game. Well at least that was one of the rumors abound the net. But it was one of the more solid ones. Especially since The Cult of Rapture, BioShock 2's official website, just announced that it is true. Take Two Made My Little Sister Late
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of July 2009 - 05:44 PM ]
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Provides Financial Update This makes me very sad to say, but it looks like the original release date of Late October of this year is no longer for BioShock 2. In fact a solid release date is no longer anywhere attached to BioShock 2 any more. Just a time frame. A year long time frame at that too. With only the excuse of needing to take extra time to give towards development time for the title. This places the sequel around 3 years after the original release on the PC and XBox and only 2 years since the PS3 launch. Read More...
