UFC 2009: Undisputed Review
by Jesse [ Saturday, 30th of May 2009 - 12:18 AM ]
It’s taken years for mixed martial arts as a sport to grow into the worldwide phenomenon that it is today and much of the success is thanks to the efforts of the Ultimate Fighting Championship which has become the largest fighting league in the world. But if there’s one thing that’s been missing is an MMA video game that captures the spirit and the essence of the sport without having to step into the cage and get your face smashed in. There have been half a dozen attempts in the past, but nothing really seemed to work. Thankfully all that is about to change with UFC 2009: Undisputed. Read More...

Samurai Shodown Anthology Review
by Jesse [ Sunday, 24th of May 2009 - 02:42 AM ]
When you look back at the 1990’s and you see the more popular fighting games to come out of that decade, your mind will invariably jump to Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter above anything else. From those two series came so many clones that really didn’t offer anything new to the genre. It’s ironic though that most of these clones are probably better known than anything from the Samurai Shodown series which is a shame since Samurai Shodown did so much to add to the fighting genre back in the day. Thankfully SNK Playmore have put together a collection of Samurai Shodown games that is a must have for anyone who is a fan of the series. There are several things that separate Samurai Shodown from virtually every other fighting game of the same era. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 8th of May 2009 - 07:23 AM ]
(If you wish to read my review of Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees and get more background, click here.)As with all episodic content, a second installment of a series is always a necessity.  This tradition continues with the second episode of the delightfully charming Wallace&Gromit’s Grand Adventures by Telltale Games.  Entitled “The Last Resort” we rejoin our favorite British inventor and his faithful companion for a wet’n’wild ride of enjoyment and mystery. The opening credits reveal Wallace and Gromit already in a jam. Review of Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures Episode I: The Fright of the Bumblebees
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 24th of March 2009 - 10:47 PM ]
Telltale Games has a formula for success and this time they have added a British compound to their already stellar lineup of point-and-click, episodic games (Sam&Max, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People).  Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Adventures begins its four episode run today with “Fright of the Bumblebees.”  Wallace and Gromit are the main characters of a British animated series developed by Nick Price of Aardman Animations.  Using stop-motion clay animation, the series depicts Wallace, an absent-minded inventor, and his silent, faithful companion Gromit. Killzone 2 Review [PS3]
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of March 2009 - 06:18 PM ]
A Review of Killzone 2 For The PS3 While technically the third in the series, as it follows after the events of the first Killzone and then the PSP game Killzone: Liberation, we'll still go with it being a sequel. And like a sequel, there are some massive improvements to the game from the first. Not only graphically, but in functionality as well as storytelling aspects. Let me explain each in their own section so you can have a good idea of how each played in. The Good: The graphics of this game are stunning. Read More...

Halo Wars Review
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 2nd of March 2009 - 08:49 AM ]
NOTE: I am not a huge Halo player. I've played and beaten Halo: Combat Evolved, but I have not beaten Halo 2 or Halo 3 (even though I do own both, I have never played either extensively). So please be gentle if I have no idea what a bunch of stuff in Halo is.... mainly because I don't have any idea.... Also I did NOT get the mythic map pack with my review copy so please don't ask me how the mythic map pack was. Many of you are probably excited to play Ensemble Studios final game, Halo Wars. Street Fighter IV PS3 Review
by Jesse [ Thursday, 19th of February 2009 - 08:47 PM ]
When I first saw the early gameplay footage of Street Fighter IV I was ready to start flipping in the air and do moonsault kicks in celebration, but then I remembered I couldn’t. I’m probably not the only one in saying that The World Warrior is my favorite installment of the Street Fighter franchise and seeing Street Fighter IV in action made me so excited because in many ways, it was like seeing a modern version of one of the greatest classic fighting games of all time. Still the question stood, could Capcom create a sequel that kept everything that makes a good Street Fighter game while still adding enough to the mix that would attract new fans? Thankfully they did almost exactly that in giving us a great new chapter in the Street Fighter saga. Read More...

FEAR 2 Review
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 17th of February 2009 - 02:28 AM ]
What's scarier than a little 7 year old girl just absolutely tearing people apart? Nothing, that's what. FEAR 2, the true sequel to FEAR, comes to us from Monolith and is hands down one of the scariest games ever. Dead Space, Silent Hill, and Condemned are given a run for their money with Alma, the girl previously mentioned. The game starts out about 30 minutes prior to the ending of the first game and puts you in the shoes of Sgt. Michael Becket, a Delta Force member who was mentioned in the first game as apart of a team assigned to bring Genevieve Aristide and put her into protective custody, which is the first mission of the game. Review — Resident Evil Degeneration [DVD]
by Jesse [ Monday, 5th of January 2009 - 04:14 AM ]
Resident Evil At least Resident Evil Degeneration is better than the live-action Resident Evil movies Of the dozen or so problems that just about every Resident Evil fan has with the live-action movie trilogy, the number one thing has to be the lack of any real connection between the movies and the games other than the title. Thankfully Degeneration changes that by presenting an original story that is built right off of the core of the Resident Evil series and forms a bridge with the upcoming Resident Evil 5. Seven years after the viral outbreak that resulted in the destruction of Raccoon City, survivor Claire Redfield now working for a company called Terra-Save arrives at an airport in Harvardville. [Xbox 360 Review] Tomb Raider: Underworld
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 3rd of January 2009 - 08:43 AM ]
Lara Croft returns in Tomb Raider: Underworld, her final adventure before a huge revamping of the series. So is this a brilliant way to send Lara off before reconstruction of the series or an example of why the series needs change? I am pleased to say that this is the best Tomb Raider title to date. Crystal Dynamics uses Underworld to continue and bring a conclusion to Lara's adventure she began in 2006's Legend. Underworld begins with you controlling Lara in Croft Manor as the manor is ablaze. [PS3 Review] Rise Of The Argonauts
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 29th of December 2008 - 09:02 PM ]
A Tale Of Greek Tragedy? The Good: One thing that I really loved about this game was the story telling of the game. First that it was very Greek and somewhat very close to something one would read in their Ancient Histories class. Second, the fact that you could choose your own adventure as you go a long, with choices based on one of the four patron gods of the game. And these choices are more than what other games allow for. Like if you chose to be a dick or a good follower of Ares, it gave a totally different outcome. Read More...

Armored Core For Answer PS3 Review
by Jesse [ Monday, 15th of December 2008 - 08:22 PM ]
Give a video game franchise enough time and eventually it stops being about attracting new fans and the focus switches to catering to the hardcore fanbase. It happened to the Dynasty Warriors series, it happened to pretty much any EA Sports series, and it happened to Armored Core. So with the release of Armored Core For Answer, the thirteenth game in the series, it’s no surprise that even with Ubisoft taking over as publishers, developers From Software have stuck with the two basic elements of an Armored Core game. Fast and crazy action and a ton of customization. As a result, it pretty much means that if you’re a fan, you’ll still like this game even if you did buy Armored Core 4 sometime over the course of the last twelve months. Read More...
