DJ Hero Adds More Exclusive Mixes... To The Mix
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 12th of August 2009 - 03:07 PM ]
Continuing to add to the exclusivity of its new DJ Hero franchise, Activision today announced that The Scratch Perverts and DJ Yoda created exclusive mixes for the upcoming release. I think this new release of information shows us two things: Activision wants the fans to know that they are really putting it all into this title and they are also shrewdly telling any competition that may spring up, "Yeah, don't bother, we got this." Not exactly a bold move on the large corporation's part and it's hardly a new concept. Create barriers to entry for your competition even before it exists by firmly planting in the consumers' minds that you are "the one and best. Read More…

Announcing a BioShock 2 Pre-Order Bonus It was rumored all over the internet over the last week or so that everyone's "favorite" pre-order store, GameStop, was getting exclusive DLC for the multiplayer part of the game. Well at least that was one of the rumors abound the net. But it was one of the more solid ones. Especially since The Cult of Rapture, BioShock 2's official website, just announced that it is true. With pictures of the concepts to boot. Read More…

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Songbird)
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 11th of August 2009 - 06:19 PM ]
I guess when you grow up living a hard life it’s easy for a good person to turn bad. Throw in hanging out with the wrong crowds and the decision pretty much makes itself. With her mother being imprisoned for a robbery attempt and her father a drunk, Melissa Gold ran away from home at an early age. Living on the streets, she developed a “harder” personality she named Mimi. As Mimi, she was taken in by a group of female wrestlers known as The Grapplers. Read More…

'Prince of Darkness' to be Final Boss at Closing Concert Instance
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 11th of August 2009 - 03:28 PM ]
If you are one of the "lucky" individuals who either bought a ticket before Blizzcon sold out in minutes or who paid a lot for a ticket on eBay (*cough* you know who you are *cough*), you should be excited to find out that Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness himself, will be headlining the closing concert of the show in less than two weeks. Ozzy is already associated with the World of Warcraft universe through commercials for their latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Do not worry not-attending WoW-heads for Blizzard has also taken the time today to remind you that you can still purchase the Pay Per View special of Blizzcon on DirecTV for the minimal cost of $39. PS3 Slim Rumored to Debut in Europe Aug 18th
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 11th of August 2009 - 03:00 AM ]
The PS3 Slim is a reality, and it's getting closer and closer to happening, at least according to the latest rumors. Gamescom is taking place later this month, and Sony will hold its conference on August 18th, which is when the PS3 Slim is rumored to be debuted. The rumored release date is September 2nd, but the more important thing, is that the price is allegedly going to be €299.99, which depending on what country you get it in, is €50-€100 less than the current 80gb model. Whether the North American or Japanese release date/price would be announced as well is remain to be seen, however making an announcement for only the European region seems odd. Read More…

Time To Travel Back Into Time
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 10:23 PM ]
From the articles I have written or hearing me on the Aggrocast, you probably know I'm excited for a little title called Darkest of Days. Well today independent game developer, 8monkey Labs, and Phantom EFX, a leading developer and publisher of entertainment software, has announced today that on August 11th 2009 a demo of Darkest of Days will be available on the PC. Aaron Schurman, Chief Executive Officer at Phantom EFX had this to say: "Custer's infamous last stand at the Battle of Little Big Horn, and the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest day in American history… these are just a few of humanity’s darkest days, and you can dive into both of these in the Darkest of Days demo. This hour-long demo lets players experience unrivaled carnage and to experience what it’s like to use futuristic weapons in period settings and see what happens when you alter history while fighting against hundreds of enemies during some of man's greatest struggles in History! New World of Warcraft Expansion Name and Races Leaked
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 08:04 PM ]
World of Warcraft: Oh how you can send a community into a frenzy just by leaking a tiny bit of information. WoW.com is reporting that, through multiple sources, they have discovered the name of the new World of Warcraft expansion as well as the new races that will be populating Azeroth. This new data leak comes two weeks before Blizzcon. Where I am sure they were going to announce something along these lines. The new expansion name will be called World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and the two new races will be Worgen for Alliance and Goblins for Horde. Read More…

Double The Beam Katanas For Double The Fun
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 06:15 PM ]
No More Heroes 2 Screen Shots Just when we think that slashing up enemies in No More Heroes was fun with just one Beam Katana, won on an online auction site, we get another one to add to the slashing of the #1 assassin in the world. Yep, two beam katanas for our assassinating pleasure. Or would it be hacking to itty bitties pleasure? Could be both at the same time if we wanted I guess. Well no matter which way you go there, here are some better screen shots of what it will look like as you swing both of these implements of epic killing in the game. Read More…

Nintendo DLC for 8/10: Fly, Climb, Think and use the Force
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 04:11 PM ]
Every Monday I look forward to Nintendo's release of WiiWare, Virtual Console and DSiWare titles. I might be the only one now. In the recent weeks, the pickings have been mighty slim. So slim in fact, I feel sorry for people who purchased a DSi in hopes of purchasing and downloading quality software over the DSiWare Channel. I had thought to make a weekly column based on the Big N's DLC, but when a decent release only occurs once a month, there isn't much to report. I would like to write that everything this week is stellar, but that just isn't true. Read More…

A Better Buy?
by Kevin [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 02:05 PM ]
A very interesting tidbit came across my inbox this morning. At a Best Buy in Utah, there are some potentially devastating moves going on. Probably more of a test run than anything else. Best Buy is quoted on their in-store advertisement as saying, "Best Buy now price matches new video games at used prices from GameStop or Game Crazy." Thus far this has been the only store with such an ad reported, but the effects of this could be very far-reaching. Imagine just walking into a Best Buy with your GameStop weekly ad and utilizing the deal. Read More…

Dragon Age Origins Delayed
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 02:44 AM ]
Alas, for all those Dragon Age fans out there, we have a bit of bad news. Bioware and EA have announced that Dragon Age: Origins is being delayed. It's not so bad just a matter of days. It will be delayed from October 20th to November 3rd. A little bit of an oddity is that the PC and Xbox 360 versions have been pushed back but they have not released a date for the PS3 version. There has been no real reason for the date change or what is happening with the PS3 version. All we know is that the PS3 version will be out "later in November". Read More…

Review: Rock Band: Country Pack
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 12:28 AM ]
Rock Band: Country Pack Rock Band is well known for the DLC updates they do every week. Very well known, for it. But one thing that the franchise is not well known for is having a good selection of music that falls in line with the controls and set up. In this case I am talking Country. A genre that isn't normally popular amongst the more hardcore gamers and fans of rhythm games. Well that was up until just recently with the expansion to Rock Band with the Country Pack. I use the word expansion here because this is really what the whole pack is. Read More…

Röckin' Gööd Time!
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 9th of August 2009 - 09:57 PM ]
With the release of Brütal Legend getting closer and closer everyday, I am sure someone is wondering what the soundtrack for the game will be like. Well we find it where they take metal to the extreme. Where is that you say? How about Denmark. That's right EA Denmark has the list of over 100 songs for Brütal Legend. After looking over the list, it sure made me feel like I am watching MTV (back when they actually played music videos) when I was younger. Bands like Dokken, Megadeath, Judas Priest and many many more. Read More…

A Reason To, And Not To, Go To GameStop
by Ben Brody [ Sunday, 9th of August 2009 - 03:59 AM ]
So here's why you should go to GameStop. So you want to play Madden NFL 10, who doesn't. Be the first to play it on Monday, as your local GameStop will be playing it in their PS3 demo unit. I have confirmed with several GameStop employees that they have received a PS3 version of the full game and will be putting it in their system after close on Sunday (I'm going to assume some are going to play it earlier). While playing it at E3 (keep in mind this was in no way a finished version of the game) I couldn't help but notice the fact that every single play seemed to include the gang tackles. While it was nice to show off the new feature of the game, EVERY SINGLE tackle was a gang tackle, something that is completely unrealistic, perhaps it was because they wanted to show off the new feature, but if it is in the final version of the game I will be very disappointed.
