            Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, spoke with CNBC last week while at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. During the interview in which he discussed several economic points regarding the video game industry, Kotick made mention of the fact that he company is working on a title called DJ Hero.   "We have the product called DJ Hero that's coming out later this year which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively and spin discs and mix songs."   FreeStyleGames, was purchased by Activision on September 12, 2008 to help produce downloadable content for games in the Guitar Hero series and are set to develop the game. The last time we saw a James Bond video game that tied into a movie was the release of The World is Not Enough in November of 2000 and it wasn’t so hot. Since then there have been a handful of very good games based on original Bond stories and then of course there was an adaptation of From Russia with Love which once again fell a little short of expectations. But now Bond is going through a reboot phase in the movies, and with the license switching hands from EA to Activision, the latest Bond game Quantum of Solace, has gone through some similar changes. It also marks the first Bond game released on 7th generation consoles (it is also released on 6th gen too). Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikklesen, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, and Judi Dench all lend their voice and likeness to the game, which does give make it seem like you indeed are playing the movie, however, this time, that's a bad thing.Quantum of Solace doesn't fail so much due to the fact that it's not a great game to play, it fails in the regard that it's based on a movie, which while containing some over-the-top action, was largely a drama-love story that couldn't hold a candle to the action found in Goldeneye, From Russia With Love, Everything or Nothing, or even Nightfire. When producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson decided to take Bond in a different direction I was pleased with what came out on the big screen but was disappointed in the fact that the toned down, more realistic action wouldn't translate well to a video game, where over-the-top is the standard. The newly formed duo of Activision Blizzard has presented there schedule of releases. While many titles were mentioned, several highly publicized games received none whatsoever. Terminal Reality, 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand and most notably: Ghostbusters, were all absent from the list. The lack of these titles, as well as massive "realignments" with the staff of High Moon Studio and Radical Entertainment, is leading many to wonder if some titles and studios are being dropped because of the merger. It is already known that Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are being considered for sale or closure at this time. It's official. Activision has received shareholder approval for the merger with Vivendi, with over 92% approving the transaction. This merger has taken about 8 months since it's first rumors to be finalized. Blizzard and Sierra, who are owned by Vivendi, will now be apart of Activision. As a result of the merger, the company will be getting a new name, Activision Blizzard. Vivendi will be receiving roughly 259.3 million newly issued shares of Activision stock, going at $27. Viacom withdraws 'Guitar' suit I thought that this was all handled and now here it kind of goes again. I'm talking about the Harmonix vs. Activision thing in case you are actually reading this before clicking the link. It looks like this time around it was Harmonix slapping one down on Activision for not abiding by the contract they all agreed on. Guitar Hero is being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame This press release announces a deal that Activision will sponsor a guitar exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Guitar Hero franchise. This will include a set-up at the HoF in Cleveland ("All the little kids growing up on the skids are goin' Cleveland rocks, Cleveland rocks!") where the game can be played as well as sponsorship of the Hall's 2008 induction ceremony in New York City this coming Monday.
