E3 2012 Hands On: Borderlands 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 08:20 PM ]
Borderlands 2 has probably got to be one of the biggest sequels coming to market this year and yours truly here got a nice 30 minute hands on with the game. Not only that, but I got hands on with the Assassin class that has yet to be playable until E3. Well at least to the general public that is. So let me break down what I got to play and give you a bit of detail into a few things Borderlands 2. Before anyone asks, they didn't really go into detail on the character creation/progression in the game and I didn't have time to dig into the three trees of the Zer0. But as you can assume they all mostly revolved around things that would make you a better, sneaky killer. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Borderlands 2
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 04:17 PM ]
Borderlands 2 is a massive improvement from the first installment. The controls are super smooth and tight. The feeling of level grinding seems to have disappeared, thankfully. Having other colors in the game, rather than just brown, has really showed off the rich and beautiful landscape that the world of Pandora has to offer. I got to play as the new Siren in the game: Maya. Her special ability stuns her enemies in a blackish purple vortex allowing you to get off some free shots. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Aliens: Colonial Marines
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 05:28 PM ]
I had the privilege to speak with the senior producer of Aliens: Colonial Marines at PAX East over the weekend. They were also giving a demo of the Multiplayer. The Multiplayer was very team oriented and forced you to work together to defeat your opponents. The only mode we played was Team Deathmatch. The marines would all huddle around each other and pick off the Xenomorphs as they tried to separate the marines. One on one a marine has a very high chance of losing to a Xenomorph mainly due to its "pounce" ability. Read More...

New Borderlands 2 Trailer Brings The 'WubWub'
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 27th of February 2012 - 05:38 PM ]
The guys over at Gearbox Software have released a new trailer for their upcoming sequel to their smash hit Borderlands simply titled Borderlands 2. I loved playing Borderlands, the questlines; the stories and the loot were all hilariously amazing. Not to mention it has one of my favorite zombie stories ever, Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC which is just how a zombie story should be. The new trailer features a lot of "Wub Wub" dubstep garbage, but it can be easily muted via the volume bar on your player. Read More...

Gearbox Making A Borderlands 2 Cosplayer's Dream A Reality
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of December 2011 - 05:45 PM ]
Hey you! Yes you. Let me get personal for a second. You happen to be between 18 and 30? Are you Y chromosome deficient; or possibly tried cutting that day Y off? You got a way to make it to Dallas, TX? If you can answer yes to all of those, I got someone down there who want to check you out. Not only check you out, but pay you to look at your face and take a lot of photos to be used in all different forms of media. I'm talking film, photograph, magazine, website and even video game. Yea, the above sounds like a weird Craigslist ad that would most likely end in you being raped and killed. Read More...

Borderlands 2 Game Play Footage
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 6th of September 2011 - 04:14 PM ]
So I was surfing around YouTube and came across this amazing fourteen minute long sneak peak of Borderlands 2. Just watching the first five minutes I was blown away by the unprecedented amount of changes to the game; Completely revamped menu system that is all in-world and amazing improvements of enemy AI, they actually climb walls and jump over gaps to get to you. The character animations are impressive as well. Watching Psychos flail their arms, dodge bullets and leap at you is jaw dropping. Read More...

Borderlands 2 Is Getting Chilly Too
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of August 2011 - 06:31 PM ]
Living in Vegas it is rare that we get to see snow. I'm talking real heavy snow. I personally hate the stuff but I do love the temperature that comes along side with snow. I do enjoy going outside on a nice brisk day where I can still wear short sleeves and not freeze my balls off. Much like the poster boy for Borderlands 2 as you will see below. Like how I brought that around? From Gamescom, 2K and Gearbox have given us some more to look at for the game. Read More...

Borderlands 2 Announced And Playable
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 4th of August 2011 - 05:30 PM ]
As has come to be the case lately, Borderlands 2 has been announced using Game Informer. The case I'm talking about is that 2K Games sent out no official press release and just used the magazine to spread the word. So everyone out there who doesn't have a subscription and/or doesn't want to pick up the magazine is SOL. You could also be like myself and still have yet to receive your copy in the mail. Either way it leaves us all searching the web for any kind of details. Read More...

Review: Duke Nukem Forever
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 28th of June 2011 - 08:55 PM ]
Nearly 14 years in the making, Duke Nukem is back in action in Duke Nukem Forever. It was shaky and seemed like it was never going to hit shelves, but Gearbox and 2K Games proved most of us wrong. But is the FPS any good or at least been worth the wait? Welcome as always to where I come in. The Story Twelve years after the events of Duke Nukem 3D, Duke is living the high life as a national hero/treasure in Las Vegas. All seems well. That is until the aliens that he took care of so long ago decide to attack instead of finish the peace talks they are currently working on. Read More...

Duke Nukem Delayed Again: Much Shorter This Time
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 24th of March 2011 - 09:51 PM ]
Duke Nukem Forever being delayed again is like a nerd with a pocket protector - you know the joke, everyone knows the joke and the best you can muster is a half-hearted smile in one corner of your mouth in recognition the joke even existed. So, the fact 2K and Gearbox went with a more tongue-in-cheek approach to the announcement shows a true effort in good faith to the game and the franchise as a whole. June 14th is not that much longer to wait and I'm certain the extra time will be used wisely. Duke Nukem Forever will be released on XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Read More...

Seems Like Forever Since The Last Duke Nukem'
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of January 2011 - 05:54 PM ]
Almost like it has been twelve years or something and a lot of attempts and such downs but at least it is still on. On and launching on May 3rd here in the US. It is almost too hard to believe, but the below screen shots and trailer for the game are below and I don't think that Gearbox would be that cruel to tease us with a fake video and shots. At least I am hoping not. All kidding aside, it is true that this is no hoax and everything you are about to see is real and we'll get to play it here in a few months. Read More...

Viva La Claptrap Revolution!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 10th of September 2010 - 07:52 PM ]
Back in early August we mentioned the new DLC for Borderlands, Claptrap New Robot Revolution. It is bring a bunch of additions to the game, as we mentioned, as well as being included in the GOTY Edition, also mentioned. So what new do we have for you? Not a solid release date, but I'm willing to bet on 9/14, 9/21 or 9/28 if 2K and Gearbox want to keep their September time frame originally mentioned. It is, as you've most likely glanced already, a set of new screens and posters for the DLC. Nothing too revealing, but something to make you look at and give a thought about dropping the $9. Borderlands Giving Out DLC For Free
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 02:42 PM ]
Isn't it always the case now? Everyone is out to make a buck one way or another at the expense of our pockets. The recent price hike for XBL is a good example of that. What you may have missed is the push for Game of the Year (GOTY) or Special Edition versions of games that come loaded with all that expensive DLC pumped out after game launch. Obviously this is simply a play to grab all the people who didn't shell out cash to make sure the DLC was created. LittleBigPlanet and Batman: Arkham Asylum are great examples here of this. Ninjas & Robots Team Up, Nothing Good Can Come Of This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 12th of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Instead of facing off in a bloody, futuristic main event, like they should have, 2K Games and Gearbox are teaming up to show their post-apocalyptic supremacy over everything. At least that is the premise behind the new DLC for Borderlands - Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Wait, you didn't know there is some new DLC rolling out for Borderlands? Well consider this a nice little daily double, even though it is all wrapped into one package. /MindBlown I'll give you a moment to collect your thoughts again. Read More...

Review: Borderlands
by Kevin [ Thursday, 22nd of October 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
Borderlands Review: A Cell Shaded Grind Loot. Every role playing game experience has it in abundance. It's the life's blood that drives a player to move forward. For that next precious piece of armor, that dominating piece of weaponry, or that elaborate spell scroll with it's twenty minute animation sequence. It's what the love-hate relationship of most RPGs is based on. Why I had so much fun with Borderlands in spite of this is due to the fact that Borderlands is using the RPG mechanism to compliment the existing FPS experience and not trying to cram it down the player's throats.
