CCP has decided that it was finally going to release their 13th free expansion for the PC Gamers 2009 MMO of the Year with Eve-Online: Tyannis. With this new expansion users will have a new level of control as the pilots of EVE have turned their attentions to the celestial bodies around them; Casting surface inhabitants into the shadows for their powerful ships while exploiting the planets for their materials and profits they need to fuel countless ambitions. NIS America has long been known for bringing over Japanese RPGs and niche titles to the U.S. Not just content with being a videogame publisher here in America, they announced back on February 11th that they will be expanding to include the publishing of anime. Most notably though is the announcement of Persona -Trinity Soul-. Persona -Trinity Soul- is an anime TV series is based on the Shin Megami Tensai: Persona RPG series created by Atlus. MERCY!? You Want MERCY! I'm Chaotic Neutral! When the Unreal 3 Engine and game came to market, many of us looked at it in awe with the power it game developers and modders to make their own visually stunning FPS games. Other genres can work with it too, but it is totally an FPS engine. One thing I always though would do great was to have a shooter with some of the better of the licensed superhero characters of comic fame. Granted, Punisher was not the absolute first to come time mind for some reason, but it was the top three ideas I thought of. According to a press release today, Ubisoft will be opening a new development studio in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Ontario government is investing CA $263 million over the next ten years. Reports are that the studio will begin operations in late 2009 and that the move will create 800 net new jobs throughout the ten year period. The new studio will be the fourth in Canada following in Ubisoft’s studios located in Montreal, Quebec City, and Vancouver. “Today’s announcement marks a strategic move for Ubisoft as we continue to expand our internal development force,” said Yves Guillemot, president and chief executive officer at Ubisoft. Sega announced yesterday in a press release that their best selling tennis series Virtua Tennis will be hitting store shelves in May 2009, that includes on the Nintendo Wii.  Before you Wii owners (myself included) start dreaming of Wii Sports tennis, only more responsive and on a grander scale, I caution you that they have not released any information on how the Wii's "unique" controls will factor into the game mechanics.  I am a little frightened that the Vice President of Marketing, Sean Radcliffe, chose the "Court Games" as the feature he wished to highlight for the Wii.   The last thing this console needs is another mini-game affair attached to wagglefest main feature. The Punisher: No Mercy Coming Exclusively to PSN So there was a tease a week ago on the Marvel site about something with the Punisher franchise. I wasn't too sure what to make of it until I spotted this on the Playstation Blog this morning. There is going to be a PSN exclusive all about the Punisher called, Punisher: No Mercy. Announced from company Compile Heart, comes a new J-RPG experience entitled Cross-Edge (X-Edge) due out for the PS3 in September.  According to a Kotaku article today, it will feature characters from Capcom, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai, Idea Factory and Gust. Characters from Disgaea, Dark Stalkers, AR Tonelico and more will appear in the game (Full list below). The game will feature classic turn-based battles with up to four charcters in your party,  story that in which you will rescue souls, and have the ability to dress up your characters.  You will also be allowed to assign attacks to buttons on your Dualshock Controller, and combine multiple attacks for more damage.
