Video Games Saved My Wedding
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 2nd of December 2010 - 09:16 PM ]
Dealing with stress is different for each person. For those of you who have dealt with planning a wedding, you know the amounts of stress the participants encounter as the "big day" draws near. For those of you who haven't experienced it, imagine having a Christmas celebration at your place, except you're expected to buy all the presents (even the ones other people are giving each other), do all the cleaning, cook the entire meal, provide entertainment, make drinks and at the end – serve pie.* During the last few weeks prior to my wedding, both my fiancée (now wife, obviously) and I were both working full time and trying to tie up last minute details – of which there were many. We were always tired and our patience was thin. Read More...

Ghostbusters Heading Into A Sanctum Of Slime
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of December 2010 - 07:03 PM ]
With Ghostbusters: The Videogame selling over a million copies, it looks like Atari decided to milk our childhoods for more money by having Wanako Studios, a studio owned by the makers of Naughty Bear, slop together another game in the franchise. From these preliminary views, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is going to play just like Alien Breed or Dead Nation with a coat of Ghostbusters paint on it. A 3/4 view running around an area aiming proton beams to wrangle up all the unsavory specters. Maybe they will include the purple slime from the second film in some way. Read More...

Review: Saw II: Flesh And Blood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 29th of November 2010 - 07:47 PM ]
Another year and another, and touted as the last, Saw film and a new Saw game to go along with it. Some would say that the whole franchise has been going downhill for a long while now, on the film side, and Saw: The Video Game was not all that well received by gamers. "So why even make a sequel?" is what you have to be thinking. Is it to cash in on the last legs of the franchise? Read More...

Finally What Deus Ex Game Play Will Look Like
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of November 2010 - 04:19 PM ]
Up until now we have been given pre-rendered scenes and clips to show off Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Those clips did have some gorgeous visuals no doubt. I mean look at the studio and publisher for it, it's kind of what they are known for. But in the end, none of that did all that much to show off what we will actually get to control during the game. I also mean really control since the last "Game Play" clip was more scripted scenes than anything. Below is another clip showing off a bit more of what I mentioned we've missed so far, actual game play. Read More...

Review: God of War: Ghost of Sparta
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of October 2010 - 09:05 PM ]
Kratos is back yet again to take on the gods for the torment they have put him through. Well kind of. Kratos is back to show the world why he was so pissed at the beginning of God of War 2 - not to mention that finally one of the original storylines for the franchise is brought into the mix. In fact, it is the pivotal point for the whole story this time. The focus revolving around Kratos having a brother that was taken to the Underworld. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. New BioShock Infinite Screens Will Pluck You Eyes Out
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 08:42 PM ]
Why do I have a feeling that these crows are going to play a HUGE part of BioShock Infinite? I mean we all know it looks like there will be a Plasmid based around using a murder of crows, but is there going to be more than that? There also seems to be a lack of any other bird type in any of the visuals we have been shown thus far - unless you count angels, in the form of statues, as birds. I don't. If you haven't looked down by now, then I am telling you to seize the opportunity. Read More...

This Saw II Trap Looks Star Wars Inspired
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of October 2010 - 04:06 PM ]
So Saw II: Flesh And Blood hits selves next week just in time to ride all the hype from the upcoming film. Not to miss a beat, obviously Konami is going to throw some more screens out there to entice those of us that are fans of the franchise and interested in the game. Yes I am one of those said people hence why I try to keep you all up to date on what is going on here. Well it looks like in this most recent push that Jigsaw was inspired by Star Wars a bit. The old rust walls compacting in to crush the garbage that happens to be in between them. Read More...

God Of War Screens Not As Epic As The Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 07:07 PM ]
The title really says it all here. Below you will find a new set of screen shots from God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta. Some will look similar to things we have seen and already played in the demo. Some are a bit new. But in the end, they really don't do anything to excite like the most recent Back-story Trailer from last week. This makes me kind of sad. Not sad as in the game will be horrible, but sad in the fact that this kind of slows the epic steamroller it looked like Sony was getting in motion for teases until launch. Read More...

Kratos' Brother Issues Finally Make The Final Cut
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of October 2010 - 10:33 PM ]
Unless you are a hardcore fan of God Of War, and I mean HARDCORE fan, you may not know that the original story was going to have Kratos fighting his brother who was discarded due to Spartan law. Something that you only got to know by watching the extra videos after beating the original PS2 game or the re-mastered version in God of War: Collection. It was an original idea that the devs wanted to do, but fell short due to time and other issues. That meant it was thought to never be touched on ever again. Read More...

Fable III Is Star Studded
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 29th of September 2010 - 08:33 PM ]
Fable III is drawing near, and recently we got a video diary which highlighted one of the most important pieces of the game, the cast. With a little bit of background from the characters as told by their voice over counterparts, this video gives us more of a deeper view into the world of Albion. Check out the video after the jump. With such amazing talent like Michael Fassbender, Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg, Sir Ben Kingsley, John Cleese, Zoë Wanamaker, Bernard Hill and Nicholas Hoult, players can expect hilarity and some fantastic voice over work. You can tell a lot about a video game, especially by its cast. Read More...

This Is What BioShock Infinite's Game Play Looks Like
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of September 2010 - 06:41 PM ]
The tease is finally over. Irrational Games has finally let loose the game play footage that has been seen by so few before today. Now it is open to the world in general; even though it was suppose to be only on XBox Live today and then open tomorrow. How did Irrational not think someone was going to snag the clip off their XBox to share with the rest of us fans chomping at the bit to see what new things they have come up with? Anyways, the almost ten minutes of footage looks amazing. It is hard to gauge where all of this action is taking place in the game though. Read More...

Batman Arkham City Covered In Blue Haze Too
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of September 2010 - 08:14 PM ]
With the new iteration of the Batman: Arkham [Insert Location Here] franchise, a new look will emerge.  The technology and graphics capability have been expanded on and it would be irresponsible for the developers over at Rocksteady to not utilize these changes. Even just textures and character models would generally be enough to satisfy the ever-expanding needs and wants of gamers. Well looking below, they are doing just that with Batman: Arkham City and its denizens. To be truly honest, the only character model/textures that look similar from Batman: Arkham Asylum would be that of the titular character. Read More...

Microsoft Did What?! XBL Price Increased?
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 30th of August 2010 - 08:46 PM ]
The on-line world is in a blaze right now as announced by Major Nelson that Microsoft will be raising the cost of XBox Live Gold membership starting November 1, 2010 in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK. The new prices for Xbox Live will be this: Well I know for a fact that Michael is probably not happy with the price changes at all, and probably a good majority of its users. But we all know that we gamers love to complain but are willing to shell out the cash to play the games or services. It's an endless cycle. Read More...

Something Positive and Refreshing in Gaming
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 12:52 PM ]
As they are few and far between, here comes another quasi-positive thing from video gamers that needs to be mentioned. With the video game bill trying to stamp out first amendment rights for games, we all need to look and see what these games can do: like bring groups of young adults together for community service. No, I am not talking community service that is imposed by the penal system. I am talking the kind that is voluntary to show that people still have some kind of kind heart left. Read More...
