Dead Island
Dead Island fans can finally rejoice with Dead Island 2 getting revealed again during Gamescom this year
It has been a long time coming, and not fresh out of Gamescom the rumors have turned to truths with Dead Island 2 getting its official re-reveal that the game is on its way to us all. Given that many have been waiting for Deep Silver to get this to us all since 2014, it is an insane bit of happiness that comes with Dambuster Studios making sure it is ready for us all. This leads to the next big part of this reveal for Dead Island 2, with it hitting the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 3rd of 2023. It has been one Hells of a rollercoaster to get here, and now we have an end in sight. Not to mention some fresh looks at how the game has evolved since it was announced so long ago.
As we get ready to dive back into Dead Island 2, we get to see that some of the core aspects of it all have carried over still from what we knew. This game will be taking place after the original events and instead of a specific island, in a gore-drenched Los Angeles instead. Odd to do so with island being in the title, but it is something we have forgiven in the past. Even if that does mean we have to ignore the gameshow-style of things we heard about before with us following one of six characters in the story that have survived a bite in Dead Island 2 and will be using this and their other skills to some great advantage out there in the wastes. All of which makes it sound like this story could be a bit more of a downer when it comes to things instead of the light-hearted bit we had from before. That was what made it feel like the game was different than other zombie titles out there. Even with its odd weapons and gear we can craft along the way.
Dead Island 2 — Reveal
The Ultimate Zombie slayer is back, and arriving on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on February 3, 2023! We can’t wait to see you in HELL-A, the devastated, gore-drenched Los Angeles, and introduce you to our deadly and charismatic zombie slayers.
You are bitten, infected, but immune, and stronger for it. Learn how to harness the virus coursing through your veins as you paint LA red with the insides of countless zombie enemies on a path to discover the truth about the outbreak, about who – or what – you are, and survive. Slice, pulverize and smash your way through the horror-soaked streets of the city of Angels, dispatching the undead who get in your way. No biggie but the fate of the city – and all of humanity – is in your infected hands.
Explore HELL-A – Dead Island 2 takes players across the most iconic locations of the City of Angels, now stained with horror, in an exciting pulp journey from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach.
Brutal Melee Sandbox – Combat delivers the most intense, visceral, and gory first-person experience possible, with plenty of weapons and brutally tactical options to chew your way through the zombie horde. Whether you’re slicing, smashing, burning, or ripping, we want you to truly feel it.
Be The Ultimate Zombie Slayer – There are six characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and dialogues. You can fully customize the abilities of each Slayer, with our brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec instantly and try out the craziest builds.
Zombie Infestation – Ready to experience the most advanced dismemberment system in games? Our LA is crawling with zombies that look and react realistically. These mutated wretches are the reanimated, rotten heart of Dead Island 2 with dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations, attacks, and hundreds of visual LA-themed variants. Our monsters are relentless, challenging, and true Los Angelinos. Will you be able to survive?
A Cinematic Co-Op Adventure – As a proper RPG experience, Dead Island 2 offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story, to truly immerse you in its twisted universe. Re-playability is guaranteed. Add an over-the-top co-op mode for up to three players, and you’ll stay in LA for a very long (and gory) trip.
In addition to having a cinematic story in Dead Island 2, it is going to be one of co-op again as we fight back the undead hoards and the various other types of zombies out there. All with a new way to smash, slice, and stomp them all into gory little bits with a very advanced dismemberment system. You can see some of it in action just a bit lower with the gameplay we have but, be warned, it might not be for the squeamish. It does look like all of that extra time to put into Dead Island 2 has helped it advance quite a bit in those aspects out there. All with a bit of the absurd humor in the background to help us process it all as we go too. Now we just have to hope that we do not have any other delays or cancelations along the way and then this game will finally be a reality for us all. I just hope we get some new tracks mixed into the game with Sam B. back at the turntables.

How do you feel about the levels of gore we are going to have to endure through the game and will that become a bit much for some?
