Scathe Is Taking The Bullet Hell To A Whole New Dimension

Scathe

A new devblog for Scathe is out there to give us all a better understanding on the bullet hell Scathe will be

The bullet hell title of Scathe is still going along strong here and now we have a new developer blog to help us all understand the style of game we are getting. Not that Kwalee and Damage State have not done a great job since they first announced the game, but now we get to dive in a bit deeper. Something that will be needed a bit, as Scathe is not the traditional title in the genre since it is going into the 3D space of it all. It is nothing new, but it is rare to see when it comes to it all. Now we just get to have a new experience on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it comes in a form that is not just the recent demo.

You can view this new vlog just a bit lower for Scathe and hear how the team is working on making it all a thing. Not only that, but we have new gameplay to help highlight how we will be using more of the environment out there to help keep us safe from all of the other projectiles flying around. It looks like we will also have some bullets ricochet back at us at times so we will need to keep mind of all of that too. It is mentioned that we need to keep a closer range of things in Scathe, but that feels like it could be a recipe for disaster to me. Have a look and see how you feel about it all too.

Scathe — Devlog #1: Welcome To Bullet Hell

In the first devlog, Chris from Damage State discusses why they decided to introduce bullet hell mechanics into Scathe and how dodging a storm of bullets will only serve to ramp up the intensity of the blood-soaked FPS action.

Scathe is an intense, classic FPS with big guns and even bigger demons. You play as Scathe, Enforcer of the legions of Hell, forged from the earth by the Divine Creator themself. And you, like your fallen kin before you, must prove your worth by navigating a deviously crafted maze, entangled with demonic evil at every twist and turn. So, grab your Hellhammer, lock’n’load, and get ready to unleash your almighty fury!

Use Scathe’s brute strength and extreme speed to purge your way through Hell’s most grotesque abominations, as you search for the Hellstones and defeat the all-powerful Guardians that protect them, deep within the web of punishment before you.

Quick reflexes are the key to surviving the bullet-hell labyrinth that stands between you and your ascension. Rip through the underworld's deadliest demons and collect the Hellstones in the brutal single-player campaign or drag your friends into gore-filled action in intense drop-in/drop-out online co-op gameplay.

Key Features:

  • Escape The Maze — Your task is simple; collect the three Hellstones and get to the center of the maze. Choose your own path by navigating expertly handcrafted zones - each filled with danger around every corner. Collect runes the need to progress, and smite all that stand in your way.
  • Bullet HellScathe is not your ordinary FPS… Get ready for bullet-hell where you must dodge countless waves of deadly projectiles. By utilizing Scathe’s incredible speed, you can dash through attacks, leaving you unharmed. Keeping on the move is the key to survival.
  • Lock’N’Load — Rip through your enemies with Scathe’s insanely powerful arsenal of weapons, each equipped with a devastating secondary fire. Spew hellfire with the Hot Hatch or slice through endless evil with the buzz saw launcher, Bow Blade.
  • Drop In/Drop Out Online MultiplayerScathe will support full cross-play online multiplayer where players can drop-in and drop-out at any time. Already lost deep within the labyrinth? Call upon up to three friends to join the fight. Choose your kin wisely, because in Scathe, everyone shares the same pool of lives.

Are you ready to get Scathe in your hands or does it look a bit too intense for you? Do you think we need more games like this out there or should it be held for little gems as we have here? Why would it be needed to keep things close instead of at a distance or will it make sense in practice? Tell us all about this down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all below. When we have more to share for Scathe, know we will have it all here. Please keep checking in for all of that and everything else we will have out there.
