DUBIUM Will Have Us Questioning Everyone As A Traitor

DUBIUM

A new social-deduction game, DUBIUM, is announced with DUBIUM placing us back in space to find out who is the true traitor among us

We will have more reasons to question everyone's motives in the future with the announcement of DUBIUM that we have here now. This is all in the form of a new social-deduction title that is coming out of MUMO Studio for the PC next year at some point. Well, next year in terms of the Early Access to DUBIUM, as it could move into a future release depending on how all of that goes. Even if it looks like this version of the genre will be just taking what works and giving it a solid facelift and a few little extras in the mix. If it did not do that, then it could be left feeling rather rote and we do not want that out there.

The video we have for DUBIUM does not do the best job at showing us just how the gameplay will flow, it is cinematic after all, but it does lead us to question a few things. This version of the genre will have us out there in space with four other players where one of the five will be a traitor of some sort. It looks like some kind of altered human. It will be the task of the rest to band together and fix the space station to escape while the traitor sets out to do what they do. This video here does allude to the fact that there could be a better reason for other players in DUBIUM to turn on the rest of the crew too. Maybe due to some better reward if they are the only one left alive or something. It is hard to tell from the lack of gameplay that we do have.

A few other features that DUBIUM will have will be some in-game communications with built-in voice lines. There will also be ways to alter the look and feel for each of our characters too. On top of all of that, there will be built-in Twitch extensions that will allow for viewers out there to interact with our DUBIUM matches. Some of which will help inform us all of what choices and actions we might need to take to succeed in whichever side we are on. I am sure that will lead to a lot of fun and a lot of trolling over time. Humans are going to be the true monsters out there, no matter how we slice it here.

DUBIUM — Announcement

MUMO Studio is excited to announce its debut project, the visually distinctive social deduction game, DUBIUM. MUMO’s four co-founders each have around 20 years of game development and publishing experience and have worked on hit PC and mobile titles such as Black Desert Online, Boxing Star, Dead To Rights, and more. DUBIUM is scheduled for Early Access release on PC in 2022.

DUBIUM is a 5-player social deduction game set in a near-future sci-fi universe. Players take on the role of Frontier or Traitor and must escape from an abandoned space station by any means necessary. Frontiers will cooperate to repair solar panels that power the escape pod while trying to uncover the identity of the sole Traitor. Players must not relax until they escape; the Traitor will sabotage the Frontiers’ efforts at every step as they try to complete their own mission. The Traitor needs to hide their identity and use deceit and treachery to take the Frontiers out one by one in order to escape the station unopposed. Everyone wants to get out alive. Trust no one.

Key Features:

  • A Visually Stunning Social Deduction Game — The graphics feature an exaggerated art style that’s out of the norm for social deduction games. Players will interact, explore, and sometimes kill with beautifully animated, cartoon-like characters.
  • Configurable Character & Gadget System — Enhance characters by upgrading their gadgets with rewards earned through gameplay. The variety of gadget combinations will allow players to customize their characters to suit their playstyle.
  • A Survival Thriller Built For Streaming — Viewers will participate in the game by using a Twitch extension to suggest actions or help make decisions for the streamer that is playing.
  • Unpredictable & Suspenseful Gameplay — As long as players complete their missions, how they play the game is up to them. The different playstyles and strategies will catch players off guard. Anyone can stab others in the back for a chance at victory. Players must be wary of each other until the moment they exit the space station.
  • Universal Play With Radio Messages — Communicate in-game through built-in voice lines and expressions. This feature makes it easier to play with others worldwide, even if the players speak different languages.

Do you like the look and feel of things that DUBIUM is putting down or will you need to see some live matches to get a better feel? Do you think having the extra features in the game will make it more entertaining or will we quickly see fans align with the chosen streamer and abuse the tools? Do you think we will have an incentive to be the only member of the Frontier to survive or is this a weird way to show how the Traitor will work in the above video? Let everyone know all of your thoughts on this and much more down in the comments. If more for DUBIUM is released out there, we will have it up here on the site for you. Please keep a close on the site for all of that and everything else floating out there.
