3 Days of Resident Evil 5 There are spoilers in this article. If you don't want to read any spoilers just go ahead and hit back now!

Me and Andy aka the guy who owns this website have banded together and beaten Resident Evil 5 together and saved the world as we know it. Okay, maybe we didn't save the world but we did beat RE5 and for the next 3 days up until it's midnight release on Friday, will be bringing you 3 Resident Evil 5 articles. The first one is a FAQ on Resident Evil 5. Be careful, as there are some spoilers.

Can you reload, shoot, or otherwise do actions while running or moving?
No, while you may think it's a bad thing, you get used to it (RE4 vets will already be used to this). It does add to the survival portion of the survival horror genre by making you choose your actions wisely. While Chris and Sheva may never conduct these actions in-game, they are seen moving while firing during cut-scenes.

How long is the game?
Unfortunately the game isn't as long as Resident Evil 4 (It is NOWHERE near as long as RE4) and seems to fall in the same category as Metal Gear Solid 4, it's a sweeping epic that tells more in the cutscenes than in the action of the game. It'll take an experienced gamer to beat the game in about 5-6 hours not counting cutscenes. If you had 2 people playing RE4 and RE5 respectively for the very first time. I figure the person playing RE5 for the first time would beat the game before the person playing RE4 for the first time finds Ashley.

So how long are the cutscenes?
I haven't exactly timed it out but we'd guess there is about 1-2 hours worth of cutscenes. There are the signature interactive cut-scenes that RE4 vets will remember.

What is the BSAA?
The BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) is a group that was formed after the dissolution of the Umbrella Corporation as a countermeasure to stop Umbrella's weapons and virii from falling into the wrong hands. Chris and Sheva are members of the BSAA which is essentially the equivalent of STARS of the previous games.

What is Tricell?
Tricell was a rival company of Umbrella before Umbrella dissolved and is just like Umbrella in many ways. When Umbrella dissolved, Tricell picked up the pieces and getting hold of many Umbrella virii and equipment. Tricell is essentially the equivalent of Umbrella of the previous games.

Who is Sheva?
She's a new character, who joined the BSAA and is Chris's contact and partner throughout the whole of the game. She will be with Chris from the first second of gameplay to the last. She is an integral part of beating the game as you need her to not only watch your back, but help solve puzzles that require two people (read: open doors that require 2 keycards)

Who are the Majini?
The Majini are the main enemies of the game, and are infected with Las Plagas. They vary in size and speed greatly but are mostly slow for the most part. A man named Ricardo Irving, who works for Tricell, is responsible for the outbreak of Las Plagas in the area. The Majini are essentially the equivalent of the Ganados from RE4.

What year does RE5 take place?
2008, throughout the game, during loading screens (and you have the option to view the file) there will be History of Resident Evil tidbits which chronicle the game, from 1960 to 2004, the conclusion of Resident Evil 4.

Do I need to have played the previous Resident Evils to understand what is going on?
Not necissarily, however I would not recommend playing it without having at least read what happens in RE0-RE4. Google is your friend on that one. The game does include the aformentioned History of Resident Evil and if RE5 is your first Resident Evil game, I suggest reading that as well.

I read somewhere that if you are out in the heat for too long that you will suffer from hallucinations and mirages and what not, is that true?
No, early versions of the game had the feature implemented, however the developer's took it out, as well as the whole idea of hallucinations happening during the game.

Is Jill Valentine dead?
According to the official BSAA files, Jill Valentine died in the line of duty in 2006. She died while trying to apprehend Albert Wesker with Chris Redfield. Neither the body of Wesker or Valentine are found.

So then.... is Wesker dead?
According to most reports, Wesker died along with Jill Valentine at the Spencer Estate in 2003.

Seriously are either of them dead?
....mebee....

What's coming tomorrow?
Tomorrow will be a retrospective on the whole series and then the day after will be the official review!
