A new, and extremely dark game, Tormentor is announced with Tormentor promising the darkest fantasies of humans coming to life
It does seem like Madmind Studios is not hurting for any ideas of video games that go down some very dark paths of sanity out there, and now we have Tormentor to keep an eye on. That or an eye on the studio with this game placing us in the role of a killer that hunts down victims, brings them back to a torture dungeon, and then streams the horrors online for others to watch. Yes, this sounds like a weird way to play Hostel in a video game form. At least, Tormentor does sound like it might have a bit of a twist to it all besides being a serial killer simulator.
The basics in Tormentor will have us collecting victims, building a torture chamber, and customizing everything we get to see of them, but what is interesting here is that at some point they get to escape. It is unclear if this is a different mode we get to experience in Tormentor or if it will always happen and then we will need to survive as the victims team up to take us down after all of the torment we put them through. It still feels like a serial killer simulator, but it does seem to twist the usual horror genre over with the killer needing to survive. I am not sure if this is to paint them as the "hero" of it all, but it is something new that we do not always get to see. Even if it looks like another title that will get the AO-rating that is poised for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
