G.I. Joe
G.I. Joe is coming back to us in video game form with the announcement of G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout coming this October
The rumored G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout has now become a true thing, as we have an official announcement for the game now. Not only an announcement from GameMill Entertainment but also a release date of October 13th for the game to hit the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Another one of those interesting tales from rumor to launch in such a short amount of time. More so with a weird new popularity in the G.I. Joe IP since the live-action films and comics we have had. Although, it does look like this one is taking way more inspiration from the original cartoons over anything in the modern age.
So what is G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout? As it looks now, it is a shooter of sorts where we will get to play as twelve of the iconic characters some of us grew up with. Given that some are on the Cobra side and others on the G.I. Joe side, it is hard to tell if this will be more than a co-op multiplayer shooter or not. It does take a great callback to the earlier forms of the franchise with character design and the cell shading, so there is that to be excited about. You do not need to just take my word, though, as you can see a good chunk of gameplay in this announcement and then have a short wait to actually get to play it all.
G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout — Announce
Yo Joe! G.I. Joe and Cobra are back. G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout features 12 playable characters, including Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, Destro, Roadblock, Storm Shadow, and more. Each soldier has their own unique powers and can be customized with a variety of weapons and skins. There’s also multiplayer with modes such as Capture the Flag, Assault, and King of the Hill.
Have you been secretly or openly hoping to see a video game based on the old G.I. Joe or is this a huge surprise to you? Do you think that we will get a campaign where we play both sides of the conflict or will it only be the Joe side? Which characters are you hoping will join in that we have yet to see or is your favorite already in there? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. If there is more to offer up for G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, we will add it all to the site. Just be sure to keep coming back for all of that and more.
