LEGO Super Mario Coming This August With Some Fun Expansions

LEGO

The LEGO Super Mario set has been set with an August release date and we see how LEGO Super Mario can be further expanded out

We now have a release date for that LEGO Super Mario set, as well as a bit more detail to what is going on with it all. The release date being August 1st for those holding off on the pre-order of the set. If that was why you were holding off, that is. There is still a lot of unknowns when it comes to how the LEGO Super Mario set will differ from others out there and that could make you save your dollars too. Now, though, we have details on more of it and how it will flow and keep us building our own levels with the bricks and how Mario will react to everything.

As we saw in the past, the LEGO Super Mario will have a few odd-shaped characters in the mix. Odd over the normal Minifigures that we would get with sets like this. That is due to the fact that the Mario figure has a gyroscope, LCDs in the eyes, mouth, and belly, with a speaker to give us sound, and sensors to tell what kind of bricks he is on. Yes, it looks like LEGO Super Mario will take into account that he is on lava or something else. All to feed the data back to an app to keep score and other various stats to keep players honest. As honest as they can be with people watching at the time.

To top this off a bit more, there are also two expansions announced for LEGO Super Mario to come too. Those being a Piranha Plant ($30) and Bowser's Castle ($100) expansion that will link together and offer up other bits of gameplay functionality. You can see a bit more of it motion down below, but so far that is costing us just under $200 USD to get to experience the LEGO Super Mario with little more on how it will force the play. If anything, it will give the builders, like me, out there a fun bit to put together and show off to the world. Even if the other mechanics get ignored along the way.

LEGO Super Mario — A Closer Look

Our Lead Designer, Jonathan Bennink, explains how LEGO Mario jumps and saves the day in a new real-life game. Bowser and Koopa Troopa join the adventure, in two new expansion sets: Piranha Plant Power Slide and Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle.

Have you pre-ordered the LEGO Super Mario set yet or were you waiting for a date and further details to do that? Do you think that there will be a game rules set to come along or will it be as free-flowing as the videos have always made it seem? Are you more excited for the Bowser's Castle set over the base and other expansion set? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you wish. When we have more to share for the LEGO Super Mario set, we will add it all here. Be sure to keep checking in here for all of that and much, much more.
