Be The Sum Of Your Choices As Gamedec Hits Kickstarter

Gamedec

The upcoming cyberpunk title, Gamedec, has hit Kickstarter to help get funded and with that comes some gameplay for Gamedec

If you remember back to the better times of last year, we had the announcement for a cool little title called Gamedec out of Gamescom. Try not to get those two confused, as one is a giant gaming convention and the other is the upcoming title out of Anshar Studios. A fun little point-and-click cyberpunk title that will have us delving into some dark territories as we play detective and solve some mysteries and crime. That is what a Gamedec does in the game and we are just the next one to take on the mantle. There is no shame in that at all. Now that we have that out of the way…

We have a look at a bit more for Gamedec since last year as the team pushes on for a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the game. A campaign that, as of this writing, has already been met and surpassed. You can still throw down your cash for this one and secure your spot in having the game with no doubt of it falling through now. With this campaign, though, also comes some of the first gameplay to show off how things will flow in the game and how dark some of the paths can and will be out there. Gamedec will have us going into all kinds of simulations to help save victims or to cause other things to happen. You can get a small taste of it just below here for the campaign.

The reality of the XXII-century is challenging – people live in cage-like cities separated from nature, which has turned hostile. The world is ruled by multi-billion-dollar corporations. To escape their daily misery, people immerse themselves in virtual worlds, hoping to find relief, enjoyment, and adventure. But wanting more leads to new problems, and someone has to solve them – a Gamedec. As a game detective, you take cases from distressed and spoiled customers, discovering intrigue and revealing the truth. Your decisions won’t be easy to make – some choices will feel right, while others might surprise you. Each decision you make shapes the game world and your character’s personality.

Gamedec is an authentic RPG experience where every decision is important and comes with a consequence. The world you live in always adapts to the decisions you make. As the story progresses, your hero adapts as well. Just like in “real” life, the consequences of your choices can be immediate, long-term, or stay hidden, surfacing when least expected. Whatever you decide, the game will remain neutral, neither judging your choices nor suggesting “better” options. It’s up to you to evaluate what you’ve done, bearing in mind that you are the sum of your choices.

Anshar Studios returns to the foundations of the RPG genre. Their new game is built on mechanics like Deduction, a Codex, and Aspects. These allow for complex conversations and interactions as players create or expose networks of conspiracies while discovering unusual relationships between virtual worlds. Gamedec’s pen-and-paper based RPG mechanics give players the freedom to approach situations from multiple perspectives.

If that was not enough for Gamedec here, we have a much longer and much darker bit of gameplay to go into for the game. Darker in tone of content and not visuals before you get any ideas. This bit has our Gamedec getting hired on to go find the son of an executive that has been lost in a virtual world. A world that is full of some of the darkest places humans can go with sex and assault. None of it is fully shown here in the gameplay if you so choose to watch, just take note. What we do get to see here, though, is how the dialog and detective mechanics of the game will flow. Most of which runs about as one would assume for a game of this type. The one cool feature being that if you come across an option that requires a skill in the game, you can upgrade on the spot if needed. Provided you have the ability to upgrade in the first place. It all looks and sounds like a fun time to play, even if some of the content might turn some of you off.

What thoughts do you have for Gamedec here and it is the game you thought we would be getting here? Have you already thrown in for the campaign or will you be waiting for gameplay before doing so? Do you think this content is going to be too dark for you or is it something that some people just need to push past to enjoy? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all at length. When we have more to share for Gamedec, we will add it to the site for you. Be sure to keep checking in here for all of that and much more. We need our video games more than ever now.
