It Is Time To Investigate A Lead In The Occupation

The Occupation

New gameplay for The Occupation is here to show off just what we will be doing in The Occupation and how one lead could play out

We finally have some new gameplay for The Occupation to look at and see how the game has progressed since it was announced a while back. A long while back, but that does not mean that White Paper Games dropped off and stopped work on it. Even though the release date has been pushed out a few times, it looks like it is at a state for release on March 5th. I guess it is good that we have new footage of The Occupation to look at now so we can be fully prepared for it to hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC then. Even though I would have rather had much more to look at over the development cycle…

As you will see here, The Occupation will have us playing as an investigative reporter who is trying to find out what happened after an explosion killed 23 people. All set in the 80’s with all of the tech and limitations we had back then when compared to now. Mix in the fact that the game will run in real time, we may be seeing an extra level of difficulty mixed in. By real time, I am talking about an hour in The Occupation will equate out to an hour of time in the real world with in-game events and changes happening based on that. How this will link into pausing of the game is yet to be seen, but it is a fun way to try to play a game some times.

The Occupation — Investigating A Lead

The Occupation is a first-person, fixed-time, investigative thriller set in North West England on 24th October 1987. You play as a journalist in a detailed, systems-driven world where people react to your actions and time is your biggest enemy.

It’s 1987 in North West England; A time of 80’s British pop, grand architecture and political unrest. An explosion has triggered a controversial act which threatens to erode civil liberties of the population to be rushed into place. You are tasked with investigating and questioning people on their actions from a tumultuous night which resulted in the loss of many lives. Each person has a different account of the night’s event and you must use the tools at your disposal to get the results you need for your investigation.

Will you take the most direct route at the risk of getting caught, or plan your approach carefully whilst precious time ticks by? Events happen in real-time and you must make decisions based on the evidence.

You are the reporter. You decide the narrative.

Did you forget about The Occupation before now or have you been keeping an eye out for updates on it? How well do you think the real-time aspect will mix in and will it lead to frustrations for you when playing? Do you think that the old technology will be a boon or a bane when looking at it all? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. If we have more for The Occupation, we will add it here. Be sure to keep checking back in to see all of that in the future.
