It is time to go take over and fight on Mars again as Memories Of Mars has now hit early access and will be adding another survival-shooter game into the mix for those who want to move on to this one here. This title comes from Limbic Entertainment, with the help of 505 Games, and will place us on the red planet to survive and build up our own areas while also taking down other threats we come across. Be it NPC based or other players in Memories Of Mars. It is starting to sound a bit more on the Battle Royale side of things than a survival title, but we will go with it for now. At least in the Early Access state as it has just dropped for $29.99 USD on Steam.
Now that you know all of that, what makes Memories Of Mars stand out in the sea of all of these other types of games in the same vein? Well, it looks like on top of having to harvest and defend resources, also building your own infrastructures, you will also have to deal with world clearing events that will set everyone back to zero at random points. Yes, Memories Of Mars will make sure that leveled players will have to start all the way over from time to time, but also the non-leveled ones too. More or less, there will be solar flares that destroy everything when the game so dictates and you could lose everything except for specifics you have saved for the "clone" to pop out and start using. An interesting twist on it all, but I can see that becoming truly annoying after a while.
For now, have a look at the latest trailer for Memories Of Mars that we have and see if it looks like a title you will be enjoying here. As I said, it has hit Early Access for everyone out there, so you can shell out the lower price and give it all a whirl for now and see how those "resetting" events work in a survival PvP shooter game. Maybe this will be a change to the genre that we have needed for some time now. Only time will tell for now.
Memories Of Mars — Early Access
505 Games and Limbic Entertainment announce that the eagerly awaited Memories Of Mars launches today, June 5th into Early Access on Steam with a 10% launch discount off the price of $29.99. A new trailer and a bunch of new screens were also released today, showcasing the dark and desolate world you’ll awake to on the Red Planet as a clone trying to survive on the unforgiving planet.
Featuring a rich and vast environment to explore and introducing a unique “seasons” mechanic to enhance the competition of surviving the Red Planet, Memories Of Mars sets the stage for an otherworldly gaming experience designed to keep gameplay fresh. In the unique Seasons, which sets Memories Of Mars apart from other survival games, death will be inevitable for even the most skilled players as periodic catastrophic solar flares wipe the planet’s surface of all life and player-made infrastructures on an ongoing basis. Some of the talents and abilities learned through the season can be backed up and carried over by a series of clones, allowing players the ability to download previous memories of how to build and craft to get a head start on surviving the next season.
Memories Of Mars will task players with surviving the harsh and unforgiving landscape of the Red Planet while building a habitable homestead and competing against other players and enemy NPCs for resources and opportunities. Players can team up to explore, gather resources and build defense bases or go rogue and explore numerous locations including abandoned terraforming towers, mining sites, caves, canyons, meteor impact sites and more. Seasons will also serve to make the map feel new, with familiar places rearranged in new locations, exciting points of interest never-before-seen, added blueprints for creating different weapons and modules, novel enemies, updated events and more.
What do you think about Memories Of Mars as it all stands here? Do you think that this new gameplay addition will alter the genre or be something that players do not want to have to deal with in the long run? How do you feel about the Mars setting for the game or do you think they should have gone with a different location for now? Let us and the world know what you are thinking down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Memories Of Mars, be sure to keep checking in here. We will keep all of the updates and new flowing as best we can and there should be a whole lot of that soon.
