Hey survival RPG fans. We have another title to keep an eye on here as Smoke And Sacrifice has just been given the announcement treatment and heading to the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime this year. It may have taken a bit of time for Solar Sail Games to get the announcement out there, but now we have our first look at this game and just how it will add to the genre and hopefully push it beyond. Right out of the gate, it looks like Smoke And Sacrifice is going to try that by having the visuals of the game have the hand-illustrated look to them all. Not a first at all, but it is a unique art style that could hopefully gain attention for this game and get us all excited for it.
In Smoke And Sacrifice, we will be taking on the role of Sachi who is on a quest to find out what happened to her child. She sets out to do this in a very dark and fantastical world filled with all kinds of grotesque plantlife and animals who are also out there for their own reasons. Those reasons are to survive as all creatures do, but they will add to the challenges Sachi will face as they will react in a living ecosystem of sorts. None of them will just be waiting around for us to stumble upon them and will be doing their own thing in the background so we will need to be on our toes during it all.
In addition, as survival RPG games go, Smoke And Sacrifice will have its own crafting system that we will be able to exploit in the game. Sometimes it will be creating new items we will need to move forward and sometimes it will be altering the plants and animals to do helpful things for us. That will result in a trade-off of resources we can earn from said creature, but it will be an option and most likely something we will have to do in Smoke And Sacrifice and not just be a side option. I guess we will see though as we are only at the announcement stage of the game and things could change quickly as we get more information.
Smoke And Sacrifice — The Darker Truth
On a frozen wasteland of a world, a small patch of fertile land survives thanks to the blessing of the Sun Tree. After sacrificing her son, Sachi discovers a darker secret lurking beneath its benevolent light.
As she ventures into a hidden land where the very air threatens to steal her life and memory, will Sachi ever discover the truth of what happened to her son?
Smoke And Sacrifice is an open-world, narrative-driven RPG, where exploiting living ecosystems is the key to your survival. Craft, fight, survive and explore in your quest for the truth.
What do you think about Smoke And Sacrifice as it stands at this point? Does the art style of the game appeal to you or will it be the core gameplay that you are looking for at the end of the day? Do you think that we will be required to do all of the crafting to the point where we limit our resources or will that just be an optional thing for players who want to have a different play style? Give us all of your feedback down in the comments. For more on Smoke And Sacrifice, be sure to stay here on the site, as we will keep trying to bring you everything that we can for the game.
