Paragon Is Getting Shut Down In April This Year

Sad news comes as Paragon will be shut down in April but there is a bit of a silver lining for those fans of Paragon who spent a lot on the game

Sad news for those fans of Paragon out there, as it looks like the MOBA will be getting shut down this April. After many discussions and debates, it looks like Epic Games has opted to finally pull the plug for the game on April 26th on both the PC and PS4 platforms. This has come as a shock to many players of Paragon but it is all happening nonetheless. It just looks like the game was not what the team wanted to deliver nor was it something that they saw as a viable addition to the genre. For these reasons, the game will be going away after a pretty solid run so far. So you may want to get in there and get some new matches under your belt before it all goes the way of the dinosaur.

Usually something like this would bring a lot of anger as there are a lot of players of Paragon who have sunk a lot of cash into the game. The game was mostly free to play, but there were some things that could be purchased. For those fans who did make in-game purchases with real-world money, you are not being told to go kick rocks. In fact, it looks like you can get refunded for everything you picked up in Paragon with your cold hard cash. That and it will come directly from Epic and not your platform provider. There are a few steps that you will need to take to get said refund, but it does not look like anything too difficult for those who put in a lot of time and enjoyed the game so far.

Here is the full announcement from Epic on the shutdown of the game. You can also find the links to start the refund process for any of your purchases for the game. Hopefully, it all runs smoothly for you and you are able to get a few more solid games in before everything is gone for good.

Paragon To Close On April 26

Hey Everyone,

It’s with heavy hearts we’ve decided to close down Paragon.

We truly appreciate everything you’ve put into Paragon. We received many passionate ideas for where to take the game; the outpouring of thoughtful suggestions is another testament to this incredible community.

After careful consideration, and many difficult internal debates, we feel there isn’t a clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable.

We didn’t execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon. We have failed you — despite the team’s incredibly hard work — and we’re sorry.

To try to make this right, Epic Games is offering a full refund to every Paragon player for every purchase on any platform. This refund will come directly from Epic rather than your platform provider.

To request your refund, follow these steps:

  1. If you’re not playing on PC, link your Epic account (create one if necessary).
  2. If you play on PC, or have already linked your Epic account, you can request your refund here.

We’ll continue operating Paragon servers until April 26, 2018. As the player population continues to decrease, matchmaking times and quality will further degrade.

Thank you for joining us on this journey and for your dedication to Paragon.

Does the shutdown of Paragon sadden you or did you see it coming based on your own experiences? Did you sink a lot of money into the game before now or was it something you only played on the free side of things? Do you think that this will ultimately hurt the developers or will the Unreal Engine and other titles keep them going for quite some time? Let us know down in the comments and feel free to discuss. If there is anything further for Paragon we will have it here. Sadly, I think this will be the last unless something truly odd happens now or after April.
