Find Out More On Just Who Prey's Morgan Yu Really Is

Prey

A new developer diary for Prey is out and it dives right into Prey's protagonist, who they are and why they are going through the hell that they do in the game

By now we all know that we will be playing our own version of Morgan Yu in Prey so we can be fully immersed. Arkane Studios has given us the option to play as male or female in the game and all without sacrificing any of the story for one or the other. Pretty nice even though Prey is a FPS and we'll only really see the character's hands in this regard, but there are a few scenes and tidbits that will show off the gender. You know, because this is something that is truly needed to be a focus instead of just telling an amazing story. But I digress. Now that Bethesda is bringing Prey to us on May 5th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, it is high time we dig in even closer to see who Morgan Yu is.

In the most recent developer diary for Prey that we have here, this is just the topic that is gone into here. Although most of it has already been discussed in videos from the past, we do have a little more to go on here. Like the fact that the Talos I happens to be one of Morgan's brother's, Alex Yu, ships and that we've been working for him. Or the fact that not only the turrets on the ship will hunt us down the more we upgrade the alien powers in us, but it will also attract more of the Typhon in the area. Presumably so they can reclaim the DNA for their own as it never looks like they just want to be around you in Prey because you are the cool hybrid thing and they want the cool to rub off on you.

Prey — Only Yu Can Save The World

Using badass weapons and powers, step into the TranStar uniform of Morgan Yu and fight through an alien-infested space station to save humanity. But while you’re safeguarding the world from the Typhon threat aboard Talos I, you’re also in search of your own identity. While Morgan begins as an enigma, you’ll define who he is through your choices and actions. Do you rescue the survivors aboard Talos I? Will you choose to install more alien-based powers – and thus alter your own humanity? And, at the most basic level, how will you survive with the deadly Typhon aliens actively hunting you? Every decision you make has the potential to reverberate throughout the entire game.

One of the other great revelations here for Prey is that we have yet another Typhon type named and slightly explained as well. This would be the hulking mass named 'Nightmare' that looks to be just like the Nemesis was in the Resident Evil franchise. Except that it does look like it can be killed; or at least that current version of the alien can be as it does look to pop up in multiple places here. Of course, this is not based on anything that Arkane Studios has said directly, but it does look the case here from the sots we do get to see. The Nightmare does look like the "biggest bad" in Prey so far; besides the humans and such so far.

Which version of Morgan will you be playing as when Prey finally launches? Do you think it really matters for an FPS to allow for a gender option in the game given that it will be 90% hands only or do you see it factoring in in some other way down the road? What do you think of the Nightmare based on what we had here to see today? Let us know down in the comments and discuss.
