Friday The 13th
New gameplay for Friday The 13th: The Game has been showcased from the beta as well as stats for Friday The 13th's counselors and Jasons that we will get to play
The beta for Friday The 13th: The Game has finally kicked off for friends and family with the game's backers getting a chance to join in here real soon. Not only will it give us all a taste of what a closer to final version of the game will play like, even though we will be facing off against Illfonic who know all the little tricks in the game already, but we will finally be getting some solid explanations on how some of the gameplay mechanics work in the game. It's always nice to get the little video updates from Gun Media but nothing is more telling than when players will be able to test out Friday The 13th's actual mechanics in real-time. We know it is coming now that some content creators, fans, and those close to the team will be showing it all off for the first time. At least for the first time in form of a full match.
We also didn't have to wait too long for all of that as it looks like the first match between the devs and another outlet has already taken place and is out there for all to see as of now. In fact, if you have the time then you can watch the whole seventeen minutes or so of Friday The 13th gameplay just below as you here players stumbling around and some actually succeeding in bringing Jason to his knees in real-ish time. I know that has to be why some of you have clicked right in already so I'll let you have at it so you can see what we saw just below that. Have a look and enjoy.
Friday The 13th: The Game — 17 Minutes Of Gameplay
Experience life as a terrified camp counselor trying to survive the night in a full match of gameplay.
It hasn't been mentioned before now but it looks like players will get clues as to what abilities and powers Jason is using in Friday The 13th: The Game. Of course there is the classic horror film music that kicks up when he is nearby to put you all on edge but it also looks like there is a video distortion when he uses the wrap ability to jump around the game's map. I'm going to assume this was a way to balance the ability out in the long run for all the other players as it could be a huge advantage for the Jason player in the game to be able to do that only based on the refresh of the ability. I can see it getting annoying after a while but that could just be me looking at it all as an outsider right now and not experiencing it firsthand. For now…
It also looks like my suspicions were correct when it came to Tommy Jarvis from the last Friday The 13th update. If you look at the screen when the player brings it up to look at the map, it looks like there is a quest list on the right side that shows where the counselors are in terms of using certain escape methods. Things like "Call the Police" and "Fix the Car" are there and also mixed in is the "Call Tommy Jarvis" option through the radio. As I assumed this would be one way to either distract or bring Jason down in a match if the players could band together long enough to actually fix the radio and make the call. Of course they don't do it above so there is no answer as to what the true end result Illfonic has in place there but it is there and I think it is only a matter of time before we see it in action.
If the gameplay here wasn't enough to hold you over as well, a new list of counselors for Friday The 13th: The Game and Jasons has been given out to showcase the options we will have in the beta build of the game. As we've seen and heard of others to come, this is obviously not the final list but just the truncated version just for the beta test. It does seem a bit strange that there are not an even number of male to female counselors here, especially given the stereotypes we've already heard of, but it is what it is for now. You can take that however you want to but it does look like the Jasons here will be killing a lot more on one side than the other. At least for now…
Are you going to be in on the beta for Friday The 13th: The Game when it opens up to those backers and non-preferred content creators? Did you see other little hints to gameplay mechanics that were in the above beta footage that we glossed over here? Do you think that the ratio of male to female characters in the game will stay the way it is here or will we get a true balance when it hits full release? Let us know all your thoughts on this and more down in the comments. For more on Friday The 13th: The Game as it is revealed, you'll want to stay right here as we'll keep them all coming out as we can get our hands on it all.
