It has been announced that Evolve is going free to play and you can now download Evolve on the PC to give all the new additions a try

If you loved it or hated Evolve it makes no difference as the game is going free-to-play and getting a whole lot of upgrades and changes to the gameplay. As a matter of fact it looks like if you want to give the game a go on PC now that it is free it looks like 2K Games is giving it out to us all for free as of right now. That's right, you can now play Turtle Rock Studios' passion projected, Evolve for free right now on the PC and then later on the PS4 and Xbox One. No word on when that will happen just yet but do know that it is coming.

The choice to move Evolve to the free-to-play model came down as a choice due to the very mixed reception of the game and DLC the first time around. It didn't live up to what the studio truly wanted it to be and they know they let some people down out there but now they are trying to make this pick-up-and-play game back to the true vision of it all. It's not every day that we get to see something like that and it does do wonders for the game's longevity. Now if only we had word on just how the future heroes and monsters could roll out for the game.

Before you get pissed off that you already picked up Evolve and now it is going free-to-play it needs to be noted that you aren't being left out in the lurch. For those who already own the game it looks like Turtle Rock Studios is setting you all to founder status. With this status comes 3,000 silver keys to purchase in-game items. Also some custom skins and badges to indicate things. Also that is only the tip of the iceberg here as they have plans to bring more to Evolve over time and more specifically just for those with Founder status. That is if you still care about the game given the time so far.

As I mentioned, you can currently download Evolve on Steam now for free. It will unlock everything you have already earned up to now and you will gain all the bonuses out of the gate. You just need to update if you haven't already. Go out and do it now…I guess.
