Friday The 13th
Friday The 13th: The Game has been officially announced and is looking to bring all of the Friday The 13th fun into video games with a 1v7 multiplayer game
You may or may not remember the news back in January of this year about there being a Friday The 13th game in the works. It got slyly announced a bit and also shared many of the same qualities for another titled called Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp. Both were an Evolve gameplay kind of set up as one person took on the role of the slasher, or Jason in the aspect of Friday The 13th, and the rest as the counselors. Well wouldn't you know it that Gun Media has just up and made the announcement here that Summer Camp is now officially Friday The 13th: The Game and they are looking to fund the full game now.
As it turned out, all of the media stir that happened back when the game was called Summer Camp caught the eye of the creator of the Friday The 13th franchise and now Gun Media has been "gifted" the franchise to go full Jason in the game. When all is said and done here it looks like the great idea for Slasher Vol. 1 is going to be what the original intent was; just without the worry of legal backlash. Time to get the excitement levels up to 11 as Friday The 13th: The Game is being done and it sounds like it will be done right.
Friday The 13th: The Game — Announcement Trailer
As I mentioned though, Friday The 13th: The Game still has a bit to go to be made and Gun Media is looking for help via the new Kickstarter campaign for the game that was just started. The huge bonus that Friday The 13th: The Game has over most others here is that the team has already been churning out great stuff for a while now before they got the full blessing and, as they claim, the gameplay is exactly what a video game for Friday The 13th would need to be. Not to mention the fact that we will get to play as Jason and hack up all other friends or other players as they take the role of one of the seven Friday The 13th counselor roles.
Friday The 13th: The Game — Kickstarter Campaign
Technically this is a new game announcement and technically it is not. That of course means that outside of this and what Gun Media has put up on the Kickstarter page for Friday The 13th: The Game this is all we have to work with. Still an amazing game concept only now we get to play in the roles that some of us have grown up with enjoying and having sick dreams about actually playing out. Was I the only kid with these kinds of thoughts? Maybe not for Friday The 13th but the gameplay style none the less. That is the killer idea at the end of the day; pun intended.
What do you think about Friday The 13th: The Game getting a full announcement to supersede a title we've already been looking forward to? Do you think Gun Media will be able to pull it off with all of the talent and Friday The 13th franchise backing that they do have? Is $700,000 too much to ask to make sure that Friday The 13th: The Game gets made? Let us know what you think and discuss away in the comments below. We will be covering Friday The 13th: The Game as things evolve so be sure to keep checking back in for all of the news and updates as they come…
