Surprise, surprise. It looks like Rise Of The Tomb Raider is getting a Collector's Edition version of the game. Okay. Not really that big of a surprise here but up until now there has been no word from Square Enix on if there was going to be one or not. Hells, Crystal Dynamics has been pretty quiet on the whole thing but I am sure that is due to them trying to make Rise Of The Tomb Raider the game we want and need and not just a bland addition to the franchise. That is at least what I would like to think as it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to think that as I'll most likely have another year to sit and wait for Rise Of The Tomb Raider to move from the Xbox 360 and Xbox One over to the PC and PS4. Such a wait.

Although it is funny that I say bland as this collector's edition for Rise Of The Tomb Raider kind of feels that way as there is no real "pop" for it. In fact it seems pretty basic as it has a few real-world items that are based on the Rise Of The Tomb Raider, a steel case, and a statue of Lara Croft to add to a gaming shelf. Pretty standard nowadays as collector's editions go. Even the price, $149.99 USD, is pretty much the standard for all of this. When other IPs from Square Enix are getting some crazier attention, like and island, it seems weird that Rise Of The Tomb Raider is falling into the basic and "unneeded" area; at least as collector's editions go as of now.

If the above collector's edition for Rise Of The Tomb Raider is what you've been holding out for then you should also know that you can only buy it at the Square Enix eStore or the Official Tomb Raider Store right now. Also you can only buy it for the Xbox One version of the game. Also that seems a bit odd; at least as far as the Xbox 360 is concerned. I am sure that the Rise Of The Tomb Raider collector's edition will be available for the PS4 and maybe the PC versions of the game when it comes time for Crystal Dynamics to bring the title on over but for now it is only the Xbox One version. Maybe it was too soon to "alert the media" here?
