It's been rumored and speculated on and now we can confirm that Rock Band is making the jump to the PS4 and Xbox One via Rock Band 4. Granted this isn't in any shape of an HD "remaster" of any past version as the speculation pointed at, it is a whole new Rock Band for the next generation consoles. The next best part about this announcement is that Rock Band 4 will be hitting our homes sometime this year. The best guess will be sometime around November or December of this year but Harmonix has claimed that Rock Band 4 will be out in 2015.
Outside of the announcement that Rock Band 4 is coming but it is also going to be able to carry over all of the DLC that was purchased on the past platforms to the new ones. Granted this is all based on when Harmonix is able to get them all converted over but we can look at about 100 or more of the 2000 songs at launch. I'm guessing that they will be uploaded and available for free on a weekly basis after Rock Band 4 has launched. At least that should be the assumption.
Also, it sounds like Harmonix is trying to not only bring us new controllers for Rock Band 4 but also be able to allow us to use the past controllers for the next gen systems. This I think is going to be the harder undertaking for the team as so far I have yet to have any of my past controllers link up for the PS4 or Xbox One with ease, but it would be a nice savings as we all wouldn't need to repurchase a bunch of controllers that we've already dropped a whole lot of money on already. Gods I hope that works out.
Rock Band 4 — Behind The Scenes With Harmonix
I am overly excited to see that Rock Band 4 is coming and not a Rock Band 3 HD for the next gen system. I was worried that was all we were going to be getting as the team has been very hush about the future of Rock Band. This was and still is one of my favorite games to play when not hammering out through a great story title. In fact it is one of the few where I enjoy playing with other gamers in multiplayer. Know I just have to sit back and wait for the news to keep flooding in for Rock Band 4.
