Square Enix Announces Another Kingdom Hearts Appetizer

Now about a month after Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX's release, Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX, another collection to follow the previous Kingdom Hearts release. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX consisted of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and enhanced versions of the Cinematics of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, the DS title that of another chapter of the events that took place between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2.

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX is following suit with three Kingdom Hearts titles in the collection. The first being Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, which has never reached American shores prior to this release. It also will release, for the first time outside of Japan, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix, the director's cut version of the prequel story to the Kingdom Hearts universe originally available on PSP. Just like 1.5 HD ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX will also have a cinematic mode to show the enhanced cut scenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, which was originally released for the DS.

The Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX collection was originally hinted at by Tetsuya Nomura, the game director of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX, when he was asked of an HD version of Kingdom Hearts 2. He replied in an interview with IGN saying "It'd be unusual if there wasn't". There are also clips of footage from the 2.5 HD ReMIX in the credits of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX. But how many of us actually looked at the title credits to the game?

With this collection, all but one of the previous Kingdom Hearts releases have been given an HD makeover and re-released on PS3. The 3DS title Kingdom Hearts: Dream, Drop, Distance is now the only title to be left out. Whether it will join its brothers is inconclusive as of now. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX does not have a set date yet, but has been announced to be released in 2014 for PS3. There is no word on a release becoming available for PS4 and it doesn't look like we should expect any either. The following video is the official trailer for the game released on Disney Video Games' YouTube Channel. I'm curious if we will get another Limited Edition Art Book as a pre-order bonus like we got with the last collection. I'll just have to wait and find out.
