Get ready to set your alarms. Make sure you get that small bowl of popcorn ready. Ubisoft has announced today that the first three episodes of the new Assassin's Creed: Lineage short movie will make its way on YouTube, October 27th. YouTube plans on having the first episode on its homepage in eight countries around the world for only 24 hours. Wow that's it? Can't keep it there for at least a couple of days? Oh well.
Assassin's Creed: Lineage is being developed by Ubisoft's Hybride Technologies, the peeps behind the visual effects for 300 and Sin City. Lineage will have both live action and CGI (computer generated imagery) to help explore the events that happen just prior to you taking the reins in the Assassin's Creed II. The main character will be Ezio's father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, who will help give insight on the game's back story and universe...hopefully.
The short movie will introduce some of the characters that you, as the player, will meet later in the game. You will become acquainted with both foes and friends of the family, like Lorenzo de Medici, the Italian statesman and de facto ruler of the Florentine Republic during the Italian Renaissance period. Damn, that is one hell of a title there. I wonder who else you will get to meet.
My Take: I do know this. I will be waking up early just to see how this short film is going to turn out.
