The official announcement from CDProjekt
“Of course, we can’t and won’t try to deny the facts. The movie that appeared on the various sites yesterday presents our newest project, The Witcher 2, which we’ve been working on for some time. We made something about half year ago, to present the first playable version of the game.” said Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt RED. “Currently we are looking for a potential publisher (or publishers) for this title, and this leak is an uncontrolled side effect of that process. For today, we are not commenting on anything that concerns the game itself.” |
Fans of The Witcher will not be disappointed. Graphically you can see the superiority to the first game. I'm glad that they highlighted the day and night cycles because i didn't really care for how they did it in the first game. Yes it was a great feature, and really made you feel immersed in the game. But it just didn't look real to me. This one on the other hand looks like i am watching a sped up video taken on a digital camera.
The dialog system should be interesting. I thought they had a pretty good handle on it, so i am excited to see what changes have been made. Artificial Intelligence looks like it has been beefed up as well, with NPC's walking around and actually noticing the things that Geralt has done. I like the example they use in this video. It looks like they are really going for the "feel" of the player altering the world around them, as well as NPC reactions. Lets just hope we don't hear the same scripted dialog over and over for everything Gerald has done..."What's this?"
I really enjoyed The Witcher, not just for the card game, and I am really looking forward to the sequel. With such great predecessors like Neverwinter Nights, and Baulder's Gate, this game is becoming more and more amazing as time and technology go by.
