The 8th expansion Stygian Abyss is due to be released September 8th 2009 and will include new features, dungeons and epic boss battles. The new expansion also brings along the long awaited Gargoyle class and a brand new larger than life dungeon. Also it looks like for a limited time (September 8th - 29th) if players buy the new expansion they will recive a transformation token to turn a current toon into a gargoyle.
Ultima Online represents one of the original MMORPG communities, and it's a postive outlook to all the other MMORPG's out there that even after 10 years of players coming and going, there will always be a community/player base that will always keep coming back for more.

EA Readies for Gargoyle Invasion and Announces Release Date for Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss Aug 12, 2009 Mythic Entertainment™, an EA studio, today announced Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss™, the 8th expansion to one of the longest-running MMORPGs in the genre's history, will be released on September 8th, 2009. Available via digital download only, Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss revolves around the introduction of the playable Gargoyle race. Players will also find expansive new areas to explore, including Ter Mur, the Gargoyle homeland, and the Stygian Abyss - the largest dungeon area ever introduced to Ultima Online.
