Hear how Rayman Legends Retold has brought back the voices and re-recorded all the music of Rayman Legends
We're burning through all of the days we have to wait until Rayman Legends Retold hits the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC out there, but we still have a ways to go. Ubisoft and the developers are working hard to make sure this remake lands well on December 3rd, and that goes in all forms of the development cycle for it. We're not just talking about the visuals here, as we have a massive update for the audio side of things when it comes to Rayman Legends Retold today. In fact, it is all about the voice actors and the music that we're going to be hearing and jamming out to when we play the game. That's what we are about to dive into with the latest developer diary that the studio has released, along with some of the tracks that we can listen to while we wait the next month out.
Before any of the purists freak out, Rayman Legends Retold will house the original soundtrack from the game, but all of it will be remastered. That way, it all sounds just as good as the 43 new minutes of music that are also being added to the final build of this version of the game. That's all something should also blend in well with David Gasman and Billy West coming back in for Rayman Legends Retold to give us all new voice work to help flesh out their stronger narrative frame that this version of the game is going to have. There are many other voice actors coming in to help with that, but those are the bigger names that all of you fans are going to care about to get you in the door for this game. If all of that sounds good to you, then you can take a little trip down the page here to see the latest video that we have for the game, and also hear all of the music that we can expect to experience as we go through haunted levels, dense jungles, and flying around on dragons in the world.
Rayman Legends Retold — Behind The Music
Rayman Legends Retold is overhauling the original game’s audio presentation with a rebuilt audio engine, 43 minutes of new music, newly recorded dialogue and voice acting, and support for modern surround sound standards. While preserving the original soundtrack that helped define Rayman Legends, the remake introduces new orchestral compositions, additional musical levels, and a more immersive audio experience designed around contemporary technology.
The project also brings back longtime Rayman voice talent, including David Gasman as Rayman and Billy West as Murphy, while introducing narrative-driven dialogue and expanded character performances to support new story elements and progression.
A Complete Audio Modernization
The original Rayman Legends audio was built on an older in-house engine. Retold introduces a modern audio framework featuring positional audio, foreground/background acoustic perspectives, improved material realism, clearer sound prioritization, and a higher-fidelity soundscape designed to improve gameplay readability.
The game also supports a more immersive mix, with greater separation between music, ambient audio, voices, and gameplay sound effects.
43 Minutes of New Music Joins the Original Soundtrack
The remaster retains nearly all of the original soundtrack composed by Christophe Héral and Billy Martin while adding 43 minutes of new music.
New compositions include additional Dragon Ride tracks, music for an entirely new realm, new musical levels, and orchestral recordings performed by a 75-piece symphonic orchestra in Vienna. Grant Kirkhope also contributes new music for the newly introduced Land of the Livid Dead realm.
Musical Gameplay Expands Beyond the Original
The team is adding new musical levels alongside returning favorites such as "The Eye of the Tiger" and "Black Betty."
Ubisoft has already revealed one new musical level featuring a Macarena cover, with additional music-driven stages still to be announced.
New Narrative, Dialogue, and Returning Voice Talent
For the first time, Rayman Legends Retold introduces a stronger narrative framework tied to progression through the game’s worlds.
To support that effort, the team recorded new dialogue and character performances across the cast. Returning talent includes David Gasman as Rayman and Billy West as Murphy, alongside new performances for major characters including Barbara.
Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition Also Receives Audio Upgrades
Included with Rayman Legends Retold, Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition receives its own audio improvements.
Updates include a modernized audio engine, remastered assets, support for 5.1 surround sound, and an updated mix intended to improve clarity, comfort, and overall sound quality.
