The Lost Wild Offers Up A New Update To Give Us Some Primal Fear

The Lost Wild

A new update for The Lost Wild is out there to show where The Lost Wild is in the development cycle as we wait

It feels like it's been a long time coming, but we're finally here with an update for The Lost Wild. A title that we saw years ago had a slight little peek into things from Great Ape Games for it, and then it felt like it went silent. Now, Annapurna Interactive is asking the hard questions of the team, and we have a solid little developer diary to take in to see the current state of The Lost Wild. Not to mention to see that it's also coming to the PS5 along with the PC in 2027. A solid years after we saw the first little glimpses of the game, but that's how this always goes. That all said, let's have a look at just where the game is in the cycle and what we should be expecting from the game when the full release is here.

If you have missed out on The Lost Wild up until now, well, this is a new horror experience that will have us facing off against dinosaurs as they hunt us down in the wild. Not in the way that we are a massive military unit or that they are somehow enhanced to stalk and kill us. In fact, The Lost Wild is leaning in the other way, where we are playing as an average person, and the dinosaurs are treated more like wild animals than hard predators. Sure, some are going to hunt us down and be unrelenting, but they are also going to move and function in ways that any living being would, so they can try to stay alive as well. All in a world that is inspired by some real-world settings, like the Redwood Forest, to give us a bit more of a grounded experience as our protagonist finds themselves in an extraordinary situation. Let's have a deeper look at just what that is all going to entail in the mix for us directly from the mouths of the team that is still working hard to get us the full game by next year.

The Lost Wild — Dev Diary

True fear is primal in The Lost Wild, as players embark on an evasion-based survival horror experience against nature’s ultimate hunters — dinosaurs. During this cinematic adventure, players must explore overgrown research facilities nestled in a lush wilderness and be resourceful while evading, distracting, and surviving an unspeakable threat, all while unraveling the mystery at the heart of the island.

The new dev diary includes brand new gameplay footage, presented by talent from Great Ape at their studios in Brighton, UK, including Game Director Gary Napper (Alien: Isolation), as the team discusses the world and dinosaurs of The Lost Wild. The team poured their efforts into crafting an eerily realistic setting that taps into each player’s primal fears, creating dinosaurs that look, move, and behave like living, breathing predators. The video also shines a light on protagonist Saskia and how this ordinary individual is plunged into an extraordinary setting, where she becomes the hunted.

The Lost Wild will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Does The Lost Wild look and feel like we are getting more realistic creatures than we have in other games like it? Do you think that we will be able to scare many of them off with loud noises or bright lights? How often will we need to worry about the pack tactics that we all assume they've used in the past? What other locations in the world do you expect us to see in the mix out there in terms of realism? Let's talk it all out in the comment section down the page here to see just where else things might be going. If we come across more to share for The Lost Wild, you know we'll add it all to the site for you to enjoy. You just need to keep checking back in here and on all of our socials to see when that's all ready to go for you. I'm excited to see more dinosaurs in the world, and I hope that you're going to join us all for that journey.
