Unhinged
A new horror title from Netflix games, Unhinged, is on the way to us very soon so we can see how Unhinged the horror can be
It felt like it was going to be something very niche when it came to Netflix Games, but here we have a look at a solid horror title that is on the way to us with Unhinged. Not the first of the games that they have out there, but the first one that has been catching eyes with not only the voice cast, but also the horrors that it seems to be evoking out there. There's nothing like a scary home invasion during a Category 5 hurricane to make us all on the edge of our seats, right? That's the basics for Unhinged, and we have a bit more to share before the game launches on June 30th. That would be next week for those trying to keep up with all of the releases we have going on around here.
While Unhinged is a video game, I'm keeping with the "experience" part of it all here, as it does seem to last as long as an episode of a Netflix show. That's based on the description and how we get to watch as Ava (voiced by Zoë Kravitz) is trying to keep herself safe during the events of the whole thing. Something we're going to have to help her do, along with her best friend Claire (voiced by Sadie Sink), who is on the phone with her the whole time. A gameplay mechanic in Unhinged we are going to have to ignore for realism, as it will give us the narrative and not just a lot of Ava screaming and crying out in panic. As we go through this horror walking/running sim to keep away from the person who seems to be stalking us in the building, we are locked into it. Have a look at the gameplay below and see just how we all might want to burn through this experience to see how things might just play out.
Unhinged — Game Reveal
It’s a dark and stormy night, the power’s gone out in an apartment building, and it turns out one woman, Ava (voiced by Zoë Kravitz), isn’t nearly as alone as she thought she was. Unhinged, arriving June 30 on Netflix, is unlike anything you’ve seen (or played) before. It’s an immersive game experience that puts you in the center of a thriller-turned-horror story, and your phone, which you use as a controller, is your only lifeline to escape.
Ava is trapped inside her apartment building by a Category 5 Hurricane, and her only link to the outside world is a call from her best friend Claire (voiced by Sadie Sink), who lives across the street.
But the true terror is inside. A suffocating uneasiness transforms her sanctuary into a hostile prison. The building's stairwell is locked shut, blocking her only escape, and a wellness check on a neighbor reveals unsettling signs of life, but no answer. Finally, a spine-chilling realization sets in: Ava is no longer alone.
What begins as a terrifying blackout in a raging storm spirals into a mind-bending thriller. With only your phone to guide you, this is a story of unpredictable turns.
You hear something. Someone is here, someone uninvited. Your phone is your only way out. Play Unhinged, the new immersive game experience from Netflix. Available June 30.
What are your thoughts on Unhinged as it all stand? Will this be the title that gets gamers into trying Netflix for their other titles? Will the Hurricane play more into the story than just being what keeps us locked in and the authorities from showing up? Could all of this be a fever dream of someone trying to survive a different horrific event going on out in the world? Let's hear all of those thoughts in the comments so we can discuss them all. If there's anything further to share for Unhinged, or from Netflix Games, we'll try to add it all to the site. This is not a platform we are overly familiar with, but video games are video games. So, please watch the site and all of our socials to see when we have anything more to share for it all.
