Gothic 1 Remake Shows Off The New Combat That We Will Have In Our Hands

Gothic

A new behind-the-scenes look at the Gothic 1 Remake is here to see how the combat systems have been updated from the original Gothic

Things have been very lax around here when it comes to the Gothic 1 Remake, and a few things have evaded our advances. Not from the lack of excitement for what Alkimia Interactive is putting together for us, or getting lost in the sea of titles that THQ Nordic is pumping out there. There's been a lot, and on June 5th, we're going to see one more, and we should all be up to speed on it. Specifically, we should be all caught up on the combat system that the Gothic 1 Remake is going to bring to us, as it is not going to be just the same one we remember from before. No, the team has made sure to give us something new, and we have a long look at how all of that is going to play out when the game lands on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Let's have a solid look at it all.

Those looking to have something from the original Gothic in the mix for the combat, you'll be glad to see that the bones are still in there for the systems. From there, the team brings most of it into the modern era of gaming for those who never played the original. A solid choice for those diehards out there. Thankfully, they kept the directional aspect and used real-world animations to give it a more grounded feel. Even down to the different animation styles that are used as we level up, all to show how the character is truly getting better with the various weapon types we are going to be able to place our points into. The rest feels a lot like the various other fantasy and Souls-like gameplay we have in other games. Not a terrible thing, but worth noting that the Gothic 1 Remake might feel like a little bit of a shift, at least as I remember things. If all of that sounds great, or maybe confusing, you can just have a look at the long video showcasing all of this just a bit further down. I'm sure you will get more out of it than the quick highlights I have for you.

Gothic 1 Remake — Making Of The Combat System

Alkimia Interactive felt that the original combat system was unique — something easy to pick up and learn, and something that gives you a lot of possibilities to build upon with progression. And they felt like these were the perfect parameters to build a new combat system.

Gothic 1 Remake releases on June 5 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

How do you feel about the new combat systems we are getting here in the Gothic 1 Remake? Do you like the fact that the different levels will have progressing animations to show off our skills? How many different weapons will we truly get to use in the game, and how many will still use similar actions to use them? Will you try to fight enemies that are higher levels than you on purpose now that you know you can? Let's hear it all out in the comment section further down the page here. There is going to be more for Gothic 1 Remake, as they teased, so we'll aim to have it here for when the game launches. Please keep checking the site and all of our socials to see when all of that is out there. We're trying to keep up, but there's just so much going on out there.
