Directive 8020
A new developer diary for Directive 8020 is here, and it highlights more of the crew that we will get to play in Directive 8020
We have met some of the cast before now when it comes to Directive 8020, but only a select few. Not just a select few, but it was more of a broad stroke when it came to getting to know them. It looks as if Supermassive Games is ready to go one step further and give us a full dive into what it took to bring the characters to life, and a feel for all of the crew we are going to be playing with. Not to mention, it looks like the narrative structure in Directive 8020 might have a few extra twists and turns than we have experienced in any of the past titles in The Dark Pictures. So, that will be a full thing to get ready for when the game launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this coming May 12th. Still so much time, but we are in the final stretch.
A good portion of what we have to look at here for Directive 8020 is something that we have seen before when it comes to the crew. Not a huge shock with the specific characters having highlights in the past. What is interesting to find out is that we are going to have to pay attention to many subtle things that come up during the story when it comes to choices. Given that the many antagonist of Directive 8020 has the ability to mimic our crew, we will need to make sure we know the characters better than we have in the past. Not just the personalities, but also some of the choices we have already made. That way, we can figure out if we are talking to the real character or another of the mimicked ones. That might feel a bit confusing for many along the way, but it is something that feels like it will build into the paranoia in the story, along with us needing to know some of the characters very well. Like the example of two characters that seem like they are siblings, but in reality have just spent so much time together alone that they come off that way. Interesting way to go about all of this.

How do you feel about this new feature that we are going to have to play with in Directive 8020, and will it require a lot of extra memory for us to survive? How many characters in the game will have massive quirks that we will need to know, or will some have very minor things that help to separate them from the mimics? What other new features do you think will come up in the game when it launches, and will it be something that is an evolution from something in the team's past?
