March Into A Brighter Tomorrow With The Shadow Of The Road

Shadow Of The Road

New footage for Shadow Of The Road is here, along with a timeline that we can expect Shadow Of The Road to release

There is a bit of news for the upcoming Shadow Of The Road, along with some fun new gameplay to look at out there. Something fun that I am sure both Another Angle Games and Owlcat Games are excited to share, as well as those looking for an alternative history game will be glad as well. As long as you are in for a steampunk, 19th-century Japan to come to life in 2026. That is the slated time that Shadow Of The Road will be hitting the PC out there. Okay, not the biggest of news to go on for the game, but I'm sure that is why we have a bunch of new gameplay to look at, so we can further build that hype. Let's get ready to see how the tides of war are about to be changed in this new story.

In the new footage we have for Shadow Of The Road, to help with the blow of maybe needing to wait a year, we do get to see a lot of the fun turn-based gameplay we have been hearing about in this RPG. That is a thing that is near and dear to my own heart out there, and now we get to see it highlighted. Along with all of the other steampunk technology that is driving this version of Japan, to help with some of the tactics we are going to have to employ in the fight. Somehow, having steampunk constructs does not automatically win certain fights in Shadow Of The Road, but if that was all we had to gear up, then this might not be all that great of a game. No one likes a "press X to win" kind of game. I'm thankful for that, but also I'm hoping that there will be a good explanation as to why it is not a thing once we dig into the true game here. Have a look and see what is coming in this year.

Shadow Of The Road — Release Window

Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games released a new trailer for the upcoming turn-based RPG Shadow Of The Road. The trailer revealed that the tactical RPG set in an alternative version of 19th-century Japan will launch in 2026. Steampunk constructs and advanced weapons are supposed to bring progress and prosperity to Bakumatsu-Japan, but at what price?

Set in feudal Japan amidst a fierce rivalry between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the supporters of Emperor Mutsuhito, Shadow Of The Road immerses players in a world that combines tradition and modernity, Japanese mythology, and steampunk technology. Leading a diverse group of adventurers through a dynamic, enchanting realm where decisions shape destiny, players must master different characters’ various abilities to turn the tides of the war.

Key features of Shadow Of The Road:

  • Your Story: Join a daring journey led by Tokugawa's spymaster, who recruits ronin warriors Satoru and Akira to protect a boy with immense, uncontrollable powers. As the adventure intensifies, they are joined by characters, each of whom has their own history and motivation. Together, they confront escalating challenges, striving to reclaim their honor and change the course of the war.
  • Your Choices: Every choice guides these characters along unique paths, shaping who they become. Player decisions will determine if they form new bonds, sever lifelong friendships, or mend family ties.
  • Your Team: Take on the role of a master strategist and become an elite team of characters with a variety of backgrounds and skills, each with their own motivations, desires, and fears, and set them on unique paths.
  • Your Fight: Experience turn-based combat with a samurai tactical vibe. Each team member brings unique abilities to the battlefield, and their personal goals and relationships influence every encounter. Master these dynamics and strategic maneuvers to lead the team to victory.

A demo for Shadow Of The Road is available now on Windows PC via Steam.
