Divinity
A new and ambitious title, Divinity, is on the way to us all with Divinity being helmed by a studio that has proven themselves recently
There was certainly a title that was getting all of the hype built going into The Game Awards this year, and it turned out to be Divinity. That was what the weird statue in the desert was for, and all of the other cryptic things that the social team was slipping out there, all so we could see that Larian Studios was working on the title. That being the bigger news and thing to get hyped up around, but that doesn't make as huge a splash for the powers that be over the developer. They had a solid run on their past title, and now are diving into the Divinity line. Sadly, though, that is the biggest part of the announcement, with the rest being hype and a cinematic video to go with it. All to set the tone of the upcoming game, which thankfully, looks to be even darker than many might have assumed with all of the flowery hype that led to the announcement.
Granted, that thought I have is based purely on the cinematic video that was dropped for Divinity that aims to give us the feeling of the world. Just as their last title, it looks as if this one will be filled with all manner of fantasy, some fairly brutal violence and scenes, as well as a bit more of the sexy time when it is fitting. This is an RPG at the end of the day, and given how their choice system worked in Baldur’s Gate 3, it would be safe to assume that might carry over to this one. It would add a level of realism to the world, along with some darker themes that Divinity could lean into using all of that. Not that seeing people burned alive while everyone else is having a drunken orgy is not already a dark thing, but that is my take on it all. Which, that is a little bit of a content warning before watching the video that we have just a little bit further down. This video is intended for mature audiences, so progress at your own pace.
Divinity — Cinematic Announcement
The gods are silent. Rivellon bleeds. New powers stir.
Built by the team who brought you Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios unchains its ambitions to bring you an RPG with greater breadth & depth than ever before.
Did you think that the announcement for Divinity was a little overhyped before it actually happened? Does all of that even matter when we would have been excited for anything that the studio was working on? Do you think that the cinematic is a great showing of the tones that we can expect in the final game? How do you suspect that this RPG will actually play out along the way? Let's have that discussion in the comments down below. Now that we know it is Divinity that has been announced, we can expect that there will be a whole lot more for it in the near future. Please keep following along on the site and all of our socials to keep up with us. It does look like it has the amazing potential as their last title, so I'm excited. I just didn't need all of the other stuff to drive viewers to a worn-out show…
