The Witcher IV Gives Us Only Monsters & No Gods In The Latest Reveal

Witcher

The next title in The Witcher line is on the way with the official reveal that The Witcher IV is in the works out there

It was all but certain that it was going to happen, but now we have the official announcement that The Witcher IV is on the way to us all and the story is just going to keep on continuing. It was all but given with the success that CD Projekt RED has had with the IP and all of the other spin-off things that have come from it all. We just get to know it for sure and have a bit of cinematic fun with it all as we get a taste of how The Witcher is carrying on after the way the third title ended out there. As we should have all suspected, this one will be led by Ciri and how she will become the next massive monster killer of the lands. Even if the basic humans out there do not want to believe that is the case and want to cling to the old gods that they still fear.

While nothing in terms of gameplay, the video we have for The Witcher IV does highlight about what we should be expecting for the narrative of the game. Ciri is out there with a bit of seasoning on here but still not as solid as Geralt was by the time his story ended. Ciri will be traveling about this new open world to hunt down and kill all of the monsters that are still wandering about while also trying to help the commoners understand what is truly going on. Along with all of that, we can expect all of the other fun The Witcher titles have given us with magic and mutagens to use along the way. It does fit into how our heroes are able to hold their own against such a powerful beast. Well, beyond having the two different swords and the fighting skills that they have been trained with for so very long.

The Witcher IV — Cinematic Reveal

No Gods, Only Monsters

The Witcher IV is an upcoming single-player open-world RPG from CD Projekt RED, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The beginning of a new saga, and a follow-up to one of the most acclaimed RPGs of all time, Ciri takes center stage as the protagonist, embarking on her own journey to become a professional monster slayer.

CD Projekt RED offers a first look at The Witcher IV, previously known by its codename Polaris. The game, a successor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — considered one of the most acclaimed games of all time — marks the beginning of a new Witcher saga with Ciri stepping into the role of the protagonist.

In the nearly six-minute trailer, viewers are introduced to Ciri, the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia, as she takes on a witcher contract in a remote village that has been terrorized for generations by a fearsome monster demanding human sacrifices. Framed as a short, self-contained Witcher story, the trailer showcases Ciri’s new abilities and tools, including a chain and advanced magic powers.

At the heart of the trailer is Ciri’s perspective as an outsider to the village. As the villagers say goodbye to one of their own — a young girl they are preparing for a traditional ritual sacrifice — Ciri chooses to intervene. Aiming to slay the beast and save the girl at the same time, Ciri finds herself at odds with the prejudices and superstitions of the people she tries to protect, leading her to confront a painful witcher lesson: that monsters come in all forms.

Like many out there, I am still a little torn on The Witcher IV and if the IP should have concluded with Geralt's story. Not because I do not think that Ciri would not be an amazing fit for the role, but when a story or IP goes on too long, it loses some of its flair. I could be wrong, though, as this trailer does make it look as if the team is keeping things rooted in what we all loved and further expanding upon it. Until we see some true gameplay, it will be hard to truly know. I will just keep out the hope that The Witcher IV will be a title that they are putting out there when it is ready and not be rushed into doing what they had to do with the last title. Take your time and make a complete game for us all to experience and the fans will love it. We just need to hope that the money humans are a bit more forgiving when it comes to the timeline.

Were you surprised to learn that The Witcher IV was going to be a thing or did you figure it was only a matter of time? Will we see a true deviation from the winning formula out there or will the gameplay be the same just with an amazing new story and a few new mechanics to fit all of that? How often will we come across the situation we see in the trailer or is this just going to be a few different settings with others praising Ciri along the way? Ride on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else that we have to share out there for the game. Now that we know The Witcher IV is on the way, we will have a lot more to share about it as it goes. Just be sure to keep on checking back in for all of those updates and the many other bits we can expect along the way.
