Expedition
Get ready to head out on a fun expedition with the massive cast coming to us in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
It looks like there might be a few more reasons for some out there to join in the fun of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. That is, it looks like Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive have aimed to give the English voice-acting side of the game a bit of star power to help sell us all on the game. Even if we are in the mix of a voice actor unionization push in the American video game market, it looks as if that is going to be one of the next big pushes out there to get us in on the new JRPG title coming for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Even if we have to wait until 2025 to fully hear it all, we have the English cast getting their time in the sun for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and it is a little star-studded. With a few coming from outside the normal pools of talent the gaming industry uses.
To dive right into it all, it looks as if we are getting a whole lot of film and TV actors in the mix of the voice work here for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The likes of Kristy Rider, Shala Nyx, Charlie Cox, and Andy Serkis are at the top of the list here. In fact, it looks as if we only have Ben Starr and Jennifer English on the list who seem to be more known for their video game voice work than the other. That is not to say that all of the actors are not talented or deserving of having the roles here, but it is a little interesting to take note of. Maybe it is due to the proposed strikes coming for the voice actors specifically and they needed to lean into the talent that can straddle lines well, or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is going to lean into the star power known for their faces more than their voices to help sell the game. I am certain most of the casual readers saw Charlie and Andy and have already moved down to the video instead due to knowing their faces and not the amazing work that can be done by just the voice. Humanity can be the worst sometime…
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — Cast Reveal
Once a year, the Paintress awakens and paints her cursed number on the monolith.
And every one of that age turns to smoke, fading into nothing.
With each passing year, the number falls. More are erased. Soon, she will wake and paint “33.” And we will embark on our final mission—to destroy the Paintress and end her cycle of death, forever.
Introducing the English Voice Cast:
- Gustave (voiced by Charlie Cox) is a resourceful engineer, fighting to defeat the Paintress and reclaim a future for Lumière's children.
- Maelle (voiced by Jennifer English) is a shy loner, eager to fly. Maelle sees the expedition as her chance to escape Lumière and explore the world beyond.
- Lune (voiced by Kirsty Rider) is a brilliant scholar and mage. The daughter of renowned researchers, she has sacrificed everything to continue their work. Her one goal is to unravel the mystery of the Paintress.
- Sciel (voiced by Shala Nyx) is a calm, cheerful warrior. Once a farmer and now a teacher, Sciel embraces every day with joy, masking the pain of a tragic past.
- Renoir (voiced by Andy Serkis) is a man driven by ruthless determination. His sole focus is saving his family, but beneath that fierce exterior lies deep, agonizing loss.
- Verso (voiced by Ben Starr) is a mysterious, dangerous stranger. His motives are unclear, but he’s tracking the Expedition’s every move.
Join Expedition 33 as they embark on a desperate quest to end the Paintress’ reign of death. Follow the trail of past Expeditions, and discover their fates. Enter a fantasy world inspired by Belle Époque France, where surreal enemies and breathtaking landscapes await.

Are you excited to hear these voices pushing us along the path with Expedition 33 or do you think it is a bit of marketing more than trying to use the talent in the proper way? Will we see a larger cast down the line and these are just the tip of the characters they are ready to reveal? Could this be due to the current strikes going on and that they need to pull from other industries to fill in for the ones that are usually known for video games and animation out there? Let us all talk about it down in the comment section and let your voices be heard more. When there is more to share for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we will try to share it all here as best as we can. I am sure this is not the last we are going to hear about the game and how it is using the voices in the way that it is.
