Mars Attracts Brings Us A Theme Park Management Title We Did Not Know We Needed

Mars Attracts

A new management title, Mars Attracts, was announced during Gamescom with Mars Attracts giving us a fun twist to the Mars Attacks universe

It is always interesting to see what comes out of Gamescom and the various titles that you might not have expected to come, like we have with Mars Attracts. This would be a new title coming to the PC from Outlier that is linked to the film of a similar name out there. No, it is not a coincidence and Mars Attracts is linked to Mars Attacks to give us more of that fun. Not in a way that many other horror and Sci-Fi titles have with asymmetric shooters, but with a new Them Park Management title. Yes, this is going to be a completely different ride than we all are expecting out there.

That is certainly an odd take for this classic film to go with but it is what Mars Attracts is going for. As it looks, it takes place after the Martians have taken control and abducted humans out there for their own entertainment on the red planet. This is where they will house those damn humans and keep the park open to entertain at their expense. Yes, Mars Attracts will be more of a Rollercoaster Tycoon kind of game where we will need to tend to the human captives and build new attractions around the various ones we have. The following teaser does make it feel like we will be doing this over the course of much of human history, but it could also just be us leaning into the themes more for those Martians who have opted to take in all of these new beasts behind the bars.

Mars Attracts — Announcement

Guess who’s Ack, Ack again… Mars Attracts is a theme park management game set in the iconic universe of Mars Attacks.

Build rides, hire and train staff, manage guest needs, and most importantly — abduct humans to serve as the star attractions! Craft the perfect park to appeal to your Martian guests, but don’t forget to keep your humans’ needs met too — the hideous enclosed-brained Earthlings can be prone to escape!

Mars Attracts will be released in Early Access on Steam in 2025.

Key Features:

  • Choose Your Team - You’ll need researchers to monitor your humans, janitors to maintain their habitats, and security to zap them when they break loose.
  • Abduct humans from throughout history and display them in highly customizable habitats.
  • Study those strange enclosed-brained creatures to unlock exciting new ways to amaze your guests, but remember: some humans don’t like it when you probe them.
  • Control Your Captives - Humans are unruly creatures, and even the most secure park may have to deal with an escape or two.
  • Ensure you don’t go bankrupt before the profits start rolling in.
  • Build rides, amenities, facilities, and more to make your park the number one attraction on Mars!

Mars Attracts was not the game I thought we would have had when the original IP was brought up but it is a fun and new twist on it all. It also feels fitting based on what went on in the Tim Burton film out there and the various showcasing the Martians did after capturing the various humans. I have a feeling that is the angle that Mars Attracts is going to lean more into, and I am thankful. It would have been easy to make a third-person action game, but that would feel much more like Destroy All Humans! instead. I will take thinking outside of the box and am actually interested to see what is in the Early Access that will be here in 2025. Now I will need to spin up the film one more time to get further into the mindset of it all.

Is Mars Attracts the kind of game you were expecting to hear out there and do you think it is a pleasant surprise too? Will it lean into the film story at all or just use events and styles from all of that instead? Will we get to see this title land on the consoles down the line too or will it be something that only works well on the PC? Transport yourself down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else we have out there for this title. We are going to keep an eye out for more for Mars Attracts, so make sure to keep your eyes here for those updates. I only hope it will be sooner than later that we get to see how this game is all going to function and the other fun things we can expect. Maybe even Jack Black in the mix as a soldier too…
