If you have no idea what the Borderlands film is going to be about, here is a quick rundown before you dive into the trailer. Although, I am sure many of you have already done that. It looks as if the film will be following Lilith as she heads out into Pandora, a wasteland of a planet, in search of a new Vault that will house many new secrets and a way to save the universe. To do all of this, Lilith needs to recruit a bunch of ragtag and unlikely heroes into the cause so that all the monsters, robots, and raiders out there do not stop the quest before it begins. They all pick up arms and rush out to do this for their own reasons. So, a good portion of the story from Borderlands already.
Borderlands — Official Movie Trailer
Ever wonder what it’s like to have your face melted off?
Lilith (Kate Blanchett), an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.
Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Kevin Hart), a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Jack Black), a wiseass robot. Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.
Lionsgate presents, in association with Media Capital Technologies, an Arad / Picturestart production, a Gearbox Studios / 2K production.
I was a bit skeptical about the Borderlands movie being any good, given how video game movies normally are. I still am to a degree, but it does feel as if they got the write cast in the roles and they are allowed to do what they need to in the run of it all. I am still iffy on Tiny Tina but I know they could not get Ashley Burch fully in to play the role and it would have been weird to have the voice dubbed over. I am a bit biased on that and I will own that. That aside, it does feel like this could been better as a series instead of a movie as it does feel like it might need to rely on viewers to have played Borderlands fully to understand things, but maybe they will do a great job showcasing the characters and world in a perfect way where two hours can do it all justice.
Are you excited to see Borderlands hit the big screen or do you think it should have been a limited-run series to better flesh out the world and characters? How do you feel about the actors and the roles they are playing or is it too soon to be able to judge all of that from a short trailer? Will the world feel fully fleshed out or will we only get the small parts needed to drive this story forward while ignoring all of the lore that has been built over the years? Head down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else that we can share with you out there. We are going to be watching the Borderlands movie, so expect to have many more updates about it as we can get them out there.
