Fallout
The first trailer for the Fallout TV show is here to let us see how faithful to the Fallout games it is going to be
It has been well-known that there was a TV adaptation coming for the Fallout over on Prime Video, and now here we go with a really good look at what is on the way. Not only that, though, but it looks like we also have a start date for when we are going to get to go into this acclaimed story again from Bethesda. One that looks like it is going to be a bit of a retelling while also mixing in a few new things for the Fallout story. All on April 12th of 2024. So, a little bit of a wait but not as long as any of our vault dwellers have had to wait to come back up to the surface. I will see myself out after that bad attempt at humor there.
In the first real trailer for the Fallout series here, we get to see a few protagonists emerge in the mix out there. One is a vault dweller from Vault 33 as they set foot out into a world they do not know anymore. Then we have a few in some power armor troops and the various ghouls and other mutants out in the wastelands. All as we get to see them live their day-to-day lives and go on a journey of discovery to keep surviving in the world left behind in Fallout. So, pretty much a whole lot of amazing shots showing that Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are giving us a title that should feel right at home in the IP. Even if it is hard to see what this story is going to all revolve around or the full tone that the show will go with for each. You do not need to just read these words recapping the basics, as you can see it in motion just a little lower.
Fallout — TV Show Teaser
Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them. From executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld, starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and more. Arriving April 12 on Prime Video.
Just as with any adaptation of a video game out there, I was always hesitant when it came to the Fallout IP. Not that a post-apocalypse world is not a hard one to do out there, but that the teams involved would lean into the wrong aspects of the IP and give us something that is there just to claim it was done. This series for Fallout, so far, looks like it is going to have all of the fan services but also dig into what made the IP an amazing ride in the first place. I am still a little cautious on it all given the track records of these kinds of projects, but with some great adaptations that we have had out there, this one shows a whole lot of promise. Not to mention that it could go into more for some of the vaults we have seen and have not seen in the IP to this day.
How do you feel about this look at the Fallout series that we have as of right now? Does it feel like it is going to be more of a nostalgia ride or will it give us something amazing while peppering in some of those video game nods along the way? Do you think we will get to see many more vaults or will we get forced to see all of the characters come together in a normal hero's journey and nothing more? Lock yourself into the comment section below to discuss all of this and everything else we have to share along the way. Just like with the other adaptations as of late, we are going to keep bringing all that we can for Fallout here. Please keep on coming back to see and hear about all of that as we get more.
